As I put the finishing touches on RCI, it is Winter 1997. America's fate is hanging by a thread & the sword of God's judgment is unsheathed. Our nation is in deadly peril, and I believe it is now too late to reverse that course is we have sowed to the wind & accordingly, we will now reap the whirlwind.

It is my sincere desire that Christians that have adopted the Identity theology will receive the sometimes intense and adamant statements in this book as the scriptural reproof it was intended to be. My concern is that I was not transparent enough in my goal of allowing the Holy Spirit to speak rather than my own intellect. The wisest course of action is to get one's self out of the way and allow God to convict in truth and power using his magnificent written record--the Word of God--anointed by His divine spirit.

There is much to admire in the Christian Identity movement relative to their fervency of faith and the love of country. Their courageous stand against an evil & oppressive government is enviable. I pray that God will not allow those that truly love America to be led astray by a system that fuels antagonism and turmoil between believers in Jesus Christ.

Introduction

This is a book about a theological belief that has been around for centuries, It has manifested itself in several forms over the years--sometimes in a cultic fashion, and sometimes in what has been termed "a guarded orthodoxy at least in the areas of the Nature of God, personal redemption, and the Person and work of Jesus Christ." ¹

Other adherents of the Christian Identity movement may be more easily dismissed as fake prophets; for accompanying their pronouncements and conclusions on the racial heritage of white Caucasians are prophecies that have obviously been proven to be false.

A Salt Lake City writer dubbed The Parowan Prophet is a good example of this. (ouched behind his British-Israelite doctrine is also a series of _prophecies that America would he attacked with nuclear weapons during the Christmas season of ~()()5, 2. This particular individual also cites Mormon leader Brigham Young and the non-canonical book of Esdras, so most Identity adherents would probably disavow him as one of their own; however, as a somewhat visible figure espousing the Christian Identity (CI) message, he continues to prophecy and embarrass Christian Identity proponents.

A few definitions would seem to be in order. The doctrinal system examined iii this book is called by a variety of names. Because the central tenet is the belief that thc British people (and subsequently the American Colonies) are actually the "lost tribes" of Israel, the system has historically been called British-Israel ism. Sometimes called Anglo-Israel ism, the terms Christian Identity, Kingdom Identity, Israel Identity, and simply Identity tend to be more descriptive of the modern manifestation of this theology.

Present day adherents usually use the term Christian Identity, so for our purposes we will return to that phrase or the initials CI.

In the course of this writer's exposure to this unique phenomenon, I determined that the Christian Identity movement may be broadly broken down into 8 basic identifying characteristics. Accordingly, I have structured this work with a chapter for each characteristic. Each of these eight commonalties are commonly found in the ideological behavior patterns of groups espousing the Christian Identity stream of thought.

1. EMOTIONAL VOLATILITY. Christian Identity proponents consistently act as though they are offended whenever a critic links the group (or the individual's) thinking with more obviously unsavory groups--i.e. Nazi's, Klan, etc.

This is something of a paradox, for one of the primary tenets of Identity is a vehement criticism of the Jews for doing the same thing. CI states (and accurately so) that Jews are hyper-sensitive to the degree that it is politically in-expedient to even question their history--particularly Talmudic Judaistic practices.

Somewhat hypocritically, CI proponents are commonly outraged when critics note how their own theology closely links them with racially oriented

radical movements such as National Socialism (the Nazis). The idea of white supremacy, evil Jews behind the world's problems, God is with them on a racial basis, etc, are consistent with the Nazi movement and CI; yet British-Israelites deny such a connection and frequently become indignant when such an obvious comparison is made.

2. CONDESCENSION TOWARDS OPPONENTS. Christian Identity proponents and organizations consistently assume that anyone that disagrees with their view has never researched the issues. Every criticism seems to be laced with the perspective that if anyone will simply do the research, they will come to the "obvious" conclusion that CI is an accurate perspective of world history. CI activists are frequently smug and arrogant as they attack their theological opponents.

The second aspect of this is the fact that Christian Identity advocates views are commonly inconsistent with themselves. This makes the arrogance all the more insufferable, for critics may address the obvious falsity of one perspective even as other CI adherents are propagating a variation on that particular aspect of their belief. In short, this lack of a centralized source for doctrine makes it easy for CI teachers to simply deny that any particular criticism applies to their ministry.

3. SCRIPTURAL INERRANCY. Christian Identity adherents are almost always willing to attack the inerrancy of the scriptures when various sections of the Word of God fail to support their theology. In other words, they try to make the Bible conform to their interpretation of it.

Alleged mistranslations of key words, bias on the part of the King James Version translation team, Jewish influence in the publication of the scriptures, and other imaginative attacks are the order of the day. This is a characteristic that is extremely common in virtually all 'Christian' oriented cults.

4. THE JEW AS WORLD SCAPEGOAT. Christian Identity writers and followers almost ALWAYS focus the blame for the world's ills on the Jews. In their view, virtually all evil in the world is related to the Jews.

In some eases, certain CI writers even deny a personal Devil (Satan), instead supplanting his role as Adversary with the collective group known as The Jews. They are demonized and dc-humanized--a chilling aspect of the system as this demonization is usually a requisite precedent for any "final solution."

5. ADMIXTURE OF TRUTH & FICTION. The Christian Identity view almost always has some basis in truth. Rarely is a full blown falsehood allowed to stand by itself. Instead, the larger lies are wrapped in strands of biblical truth--usually with scripture to support it. The entire movement is a potpourri of legalism, discredited archaeological views, and racial theories.

This is interesting, for the various groups have so many differences among themselves; yet CI people ignore their own groups differences as long as the central tenets of the theology come through--i.e. white Anglo identification with Israel and the "problem of the Jews" (a familiar phrase to students of the German experiment in the 1940's).

6. PATRIOTICALLY APPEALING. The concept that one's family heritage qualifies them for a future greatness is an intoxicatingly attractive view. Disenfranchised white America, particularly men that have experienced the enormous inequities in the form of multi-cultural and racial formulas imposed on them by an ungodly government, find this theology very compelling.

The basic concept of birthright is not foreign to scripture (i.e. a chosen people, joint-heirs with Christ, etc); but the view that we as Americans are genetically inclined to be saved because we are allegedly physically descended from a lost chosen race is extremely powerful. Nationalists, patriots, anti-New World Order individualists, and white youth (i.e. punks, skinheads, and others alarmed at the rapidly growing power of non-white minorities) are particularly susceptible to the emerging theology of Christian Identity.

7. THE JEWS ARE NOT MEMBERS OF ISRAEL. Christian Identity ALWAYS states that the Jews are not Semitic or Judacan at all. They usually identify Jewish men and women as either of the 'serpent seed' (descended from an unscriptural union of Eve and the serpent), or as Edomites that were not descended from Shem (i.e. "shemitic" or Semitic), but from Japheth (another son of Noah). This is in spite of the fact that Japhetic peoples have been routinely traced to the white European races.

In line with seeking to show the Jews as usurpers of the promised line of descendants from Abraham, CI writers have produced numerous historical variations that inevitably separate the Jewish or Judacan line from the larger body of Israel--the other 11 tribes, and particularly the so-called "Ten Lost Tribes Of Israel."

8. WHITE AMERICA IS ISRAEL. Invariably, the Christian Identity view arrives at white Americans being the actual physical descendants of the tribes of Israel. These are usually linked to the Caucasian tribal groups traced to the southern steppes of the former Soviet Union.

The genealogy is commonly traced through the two sons of Joseph-Ephraim and Manassah--with the latter representing America while the former is Great Britain. The alleged migration pattern of these lost tribes is widely seen in the proliferation of migratory maps, spurious genealogical histories, and other graphical renditions that are subject to a considerable amount of conjecture and opinion.

The idea that the British name is taken from two Hebrew words originates with one of the most significant writers in the field: Herbert W Armstrong. Indeed, for many years, Armstrong so personified the doctrine that it was sometimes known as Armstrongism.

Herbert W, in his seminal work The United States and Great Britain In Prophecy, put forth the idea that the Hebrew term BERITH, meaning Covenant, is the source of the anglicized term BRIT. Further, he wrote that one of the Hebrew words for man, ISH, was combined to form the word BRITISH. In Herbert's bizarre etymological gymnastics, the H in Berith would be dropped (which does occur in Hebrew transliteration--witness Shem & Semitic) even as the E disappears in a proto Anglic pronunciation. The problems here are manifold. First, why not the term BRITAIN (as in land ol) rather than the so-called "Covenant Man?" Second, while there is a widespread cross linguistic occurrence between the various Indo-European and other Aryan dialects, there are virtually no linguistic cross-pollinations from that era between the 'Kings Own English' and Hebrew. Hebrew or iginated terms that have worked their way into the language are, by and large, Yiddish from a much later era. It's a big jump from Berith (pronounced BER-ITH) to BRIT that is unsupported by any evidence other than Mr. Armstrong's assertions.

Armstrong goes through some similar linguistic machinations with the term SAXONS. Here we are told that because the promise of a special blessing from God was to go through Abraham's son Isaac (as opposed to the Arab's ancestor Ishmael), the Israelites that settled in the British Isles soon became known as Isaac's Sons, or the Saxons. Like the term Berith-Ish, this truncated version of Isaacs-Sons sounds plausible, but there is no evidence in any historical account to support this theory. Once again, there is no literary evidence, no likely linguistic commonality, and absolutely not a shred of scripture to support this fallacious guesswork.

Another alleged connection between the tribes of Israel and the British throne is attempted through the Stone Of Scone, also known as the Stone of Destiny, a relic that figures prominently in the system. CI adherents, particularly the spiritual descendants of Mr. Armstrong in the form of the sect known as The Philadelphia Church, 3. propose that the Stone Of Scone is actually Jacob's Pillow spoken of in the book of Genesis.

This icon, which was supposedly brought to Scotland by the prophet Jeremiah himself, was eventually lodged in Westminster Abbey and is used to connect the throne of England with the throne of David. The Stone of Scone was just recently returned to Scotland by the British government.

Back in 1953, Mr. Armstrong asserted that Queen Elizabeth II of Britain was connected to the throne of David, and he used the Stone Of Scone as a form of documentation to pronounce her The Queen Of Israel. This theoretical connection is dubious as best, and completely contrived at worst.

Regarding the actual Stone of Scone, one authority cited by Dr. Walter Martin in his monumental Kingdom of the Cults stated that the stone was analyzed and it was determined that it is a "...a sandstone of a reddish or purplish color, with heterogeneous pebbles and of Scottish origin." 4.

In short, the rock is indigenous to Scotland, which militates against it being of Middle Eastern origin as vehemently asserted by the British-Israelites. Before he passed on, Mr. Armstrong was unable to explain how Jacob's pillow stone, indigenous to Scotland, could have been found in Canaan by Jacob so it could be conveniently returned to the British Isles by Jeremiah--a theoretical journey that has absolutely no historical attestation whatsoever.

A key component of the Identity system is related to the blessing that Jacob, later named Israel, bestowed on the two sons of Joseph after the Israelites came to Egypt. The Old Testament records how these two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, became prominent among the Northern tribes when Israel was divided as a nation between North and South.

The Identity theology routinely associates Ephraim as Great Britahi and Manassah as The United States. In 1967 Herbert W Armstrong wrote that "...our white, English-speaking peoples today--Britain and America--are actually and truly the birthright tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh of the 'lost' house of Israel..." 5.

In spite of the fact that there are many scriptural difficulties with this identifi cation, the Identity movement continues to assert these two tribes of Israel are now found in the modern states of England and the USA.

In Genesis 48, we see that Ephraim is actually the younger brother of Manasseh. This is incongruent with the CI association for the identity folks see Ephr aim as the UK--which as every student of American history knows was here long before the establishment of the American Colonies. in other words, the elder brother is proposed as the younger country, while the younger brother is identified with the elder country! Indeed, a CIoser simile would be that of the mother country and her son instead of brothers where the lineage is reversed.

Furthermore, at the time of Israel's death, he blessed Ephraim in a superior fashion to Manasseh. When Joseph protested,

This poses a great difficulty for the British-Israelite interpretation for America has clearly superceded virtually every achievement of England. The USA is now the world's only military Superpower and the chief architect of The New World Order. While it may be said that the English financial cabal is actually the ruling order behind the scenes, even the Identity adherents themselves assign that role to "the international Jewish bankers." 7,

One of the earliest flaws in the system was the obvious fact that the white Caucasian tribes that ultimately became the Anglo-Saxons were also involved in the foundational stages of other European nations. Presumably in response to this theoretical weakness, many modern advocates of the system now say the 'Lost Tribes' are actually ALL the white peoples--or in the words of one writer, "...the Anglo-Saxon, Scandinavian, Germanic, and kindred peoples of Europe descended from scattered Israel." 8.

It is very important that we see that the Christian Identity theorem is actually a subset of the overall scriptural theology known as Replacement Theology. For the benefit of those whose education has been limited to dispensational thought, i.e. "Rapture" teaching, Replacement Theology, sometimes called Reformed Theology, is simply the view that the Christian church has 'replaced' Israel in all of the various covenants and promises originally made to the Israelites.

Originally articulated by the Roman Catholic theologian Augustine, Replacement Theology proponents disavow any connection to British-Israelism for they see their identification as Israel in a strictly spiritaal sense.

This writer believes it is significant that one of the earliest political manifestations of the concept of a white chosen race was fostered in a political environment that was dominated by Replacement Theology--i.e. The Weimar Republic of Germany in the 1920's and 30's.

In this instance, the Protestant church was largely Lutheran, and just as accommodating as the Catholic church that made their peace with the leader of the white supremacist government that ultimately plunged the planet into World War II.

Replacement Theology leaders become positively livid when it is pointed out that the idea that God is completely finished with the Jews is concomitant with white supremacist thinking; but the fact is, citizen members of the church in Germany were predisposed to believe the Nazi message for they had already been conditioned by their Christian leadership to assign the Jew to a role of political suppression, theological inferiority, and finally---eradication.

So it is with the Christian Identity system, as we shall soon see.

5. US & Britain In Prophecy, H W Armstrong Worldwide Church Of God.

He that is show to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit thian he thiat taketh a city. -- Proverbs 16.32

Christian Identity adherents tend to have a considerable degree of anger tbat can readily be unleashed when someone or something criticizes or con-tradicts their position. I have personally experienced this as one passing comment I made on the air generated numerous hostile letters--even though I did not intentionally utter anything that I thought inflammatory. Others have confirmed my impression in this regard.

It may be significant to see that this particular failing is the identical phenomenon that is observed by Identity believers concerning traits among the Jewish community. Indeed, many CI writers have noted the true fact that Jewish religious beliefs are generally obscured by the Talmud-led Jewish leaders as they don't welcome scrutiny of any kind. The same may be said, at least to a modest degree, of Christian Identity.

Lt. Col. Gordon Mohr, writing in an identity tract entitled Exploding The Chosen People Afyth, has pointed out that "there is not one single existing faith that you cannot study, with the exception of Judaism." 1. Mr. Mohr further states that any scrutiny or criticism of the Jews will create a "tumult." He says that "...as a Christian, (you) must always praise them and never say anything which is critical about what they say, write, or do, because if you do, God will curse you." 2.

Pastor Dan Gayman, the writer of For israel-The People Of The Book, writes that he believes "...the Jews managed to steal your heritage" even as they have "...counterfeited major Bible truths, and on this ground they have usurped the place and honor of true Biblical Israel." 3. Pastor Gayman also believes that the Jews hide their true beliefs in order to be shielded from scrutiny and criticism. He says they "..only use these Bible truths as window dressing for the religion of Judaism. Beneath the superficial trappings of true and valid teaching lies a cesspool of theological dogma..." 4.

Another Identity writer, Hillaire Belloc, concurs and says that "It was the instinctive policy with the mass of the Jewish nat ion...not only to use ridicule against anti-Semitism but to label as 'anti-Semitic' any discussion of the Jewish problem at all, or, for that matter, any information on the Jewish problem." 5.

Belloc continues with his criticism of how the Jews respond with hostility towards any suggest ion of impropriety in their dealings. "If a man alluded to the presence of a Jewish financial power in any region, for instance...he was an anti-Semite." 6.

The fact is, these charges of Jewish complicity in a long standing effort to obscure the facts of the Talmudic origin of their religion are accurate. lndeed, the various books that are actually followed as scripture, The Talmud and The Kabbalah, actually instruct the Jewish spiritual leaders to intentionally deceive Gentiles and/or Christians concerning their true beliefs. Contrary to popular belief, the Old Testament and The Torah (The books of the Law) arc not pre-eminent among Jews. The series of books known as the Babylonian Talmud are actually the written arbiter concerning the collective behavior of the Jewish people.

In many ways, although to a lesser extent, a similar charge may be leveled at the Identity followers. Some of this could pragmatically be considered necessary as many individuals do not understand the underlying rationale of the Identity mindset. Because one of the primary components of the system is a negative and extremely unflattering identification of the Jews, the occasional obfuscation most likely occurs because the proponents hope to attract others to their view and don't want to 'scare them off prematurely' with an intense polemic that would likely be perceived as anti-Semitic.

To support these statements, I've reprinted brief excerpts from several books, pamphlets, and letters. Most of these comments seem to show an expectation of rejection, such as the following salutory statement:

"I know full well you will reject what I have shown you " 11. This writer then goes on to detail Talmudic teachings. In a recruitment letter for the Christian Adamite Party, C.A. SeCIdnger starts out with "...what I am writing will not please all of you 12. That's an understatement, but clearly he has experienced a negative response on a regular basis.

Another writer assertively states that the Jewish propaganda "...has installed a guilt complex in the American people, until the word Jew has become a non speakable word, and if one dares to utter the word except in reverence and humility they will be attacked by both Jews and Christians." 13. This author clearly feels that the Jews will respond with venom and anger if anyone seeks to expose the belief systems of Judaism that are secreted away in The Talmud.

Lt. Col. Gordon Mohr's vitriolic tract Exploding The Chosen People Myth says that "There is not one single existing faith that you cannot study, with the exception of Judaism" 14. without incurring an intense and defensive backlash. This is simply not true, for a penetrating and critical probe of the Christian Identity system is virtually guaranteed to bring a vehement and emotionally charged reaction--as I can personally attest to.

In my national radio broadcast on 10/28/96, during a study on an unrelated subject, in passing I casually stated "...I'm not a Nazi, I'm not a Christian Identity guy, I'm not an Anglo-Israelite, I'm none of the above..." 15. This statement was not intended to lump the 3 together, but it turned out to be an unintentional slight that brought me some unprecedented and unexpected hate mail.

One outraged listener, an Identity believer wrote '...you should be on your face in abject penitence!" Another letter said these were "...slanderous words" and that it is certain that I "..wiIl come out with the ADL (Anti-Defamation League) friendly, name calling and baseless allegations, but no scriptural evidence!" Yet another writer asked if I was even "a Christian!" Still another railed that "It is plain to all that heard your show tonight that you are either a Jewish sympathizer or...you do not know what you are talking about..." 16. Please bear in mind that at this point, I hadn't said anything at all about the Identity theology, except to say that I was not any "of the above!"

In all fairness it should be stated that the subject matter itself is so explosive that it is, therefore, somewhat difficult to communicate the information in this view without it sounding like some wild and racist diatribe. In other words, be-cause the information endemic to the Identity system is inflammatory does not necessarily mean that it isn't true. Indeed, this is a very difficult subject to examine without the emotional reactions that invariably occur when information is so controversial. This difficulty is further exacerbated by the fact that as an opponent of the Identity view, I also have emotions. I will therefore, at-tempt to bridle my emotionally intense revulsion for the various tenets of this system that I believe to be, shall we say, unscriptural.

The fact is, to say that these folks are volatile is an understatement. Therefore, when Identity writers say that Judaism is the only religious movement you can't examine without political repercussions, the facts would seem to state otherwise.

Chapter Two

CI proponents & organizations consistently assume anyone that disagrees with their view has never researched the issues. That assumption is arrogant and presumptuous as it presupposes the truth of their own view and subsequently epitomizes the cliche that 'anyone with half a brain will come to the same conclusion."

To document the previous statement, I'd like to cite several statements to that effect that I've located in various Christian Identity proponent's writings. The unnamed author of a very interesting Christian Identity book entitled Exposing The Chosen People Lie relates how he has learned that when people truly have researched the Identity issue, "...then they found the more they studied and learned they found that they have been lied to... I,

Another CI (Christian Identity) author casts aspersions on anyone that has studied the issues that has come to a different conclusion. He writes that "It should become obvious to any HONEST student..." that his view is the correct One 2.

A pastor in Oklahoma that has corresponded with me on these issues has pointedly assumed that because I am not an Identity adherent, I most certainly could not have actually researched the issue. "I would suggest that he that does NO RESEARCH has NOTHING to teach." Later in the same correspondence, he again assumes that his conclusion is inescapable, and adjures me to "...please do more research." 3.

One CI aficionado was apparently so angry, he couldn't muster an argument and instead resorted to calling me names. Being in a prophetic ministry I've been called a false prophet. I've been called ignorant. And I've been called divisive, a jerk, etc. But it took an anonymous Identity believer to repeatedly refer to me as "A Horsefly!" 4.

The truth is, if a statement disagrees with the central thesis of the Identity mindset, the adherents frequently condescendingly assume that you must simply be ignorant of the facts. After publicly saying that I do not believe the Identity theological scenario, another CI advocate rebuked me for making "...a completely uneducated statement like that.... 5.

In short, if you disagree with Christian Identity, its champions assume you must be uneducated and ignorant.

Another aspect of Characteristic number two is related to the fact that the rebukes from the Christian Identity camp frequently come when you attempt to articulate something that other CI advocates have asserted themselves. To phrase it another way, there is a tremendous degree of inconsistency in this system and one leader will commonly teach something in direct opposition to another leader.

One of the central teachings in Christian Identity is that the Jews are not actually descended from Judah, one of the 12 tribes of the Children of Israel, but are actually usurpers from other peoples unrelated to the 12 tribes of

Israel. The most common CI view asserts that the people called "Jews" are actually from an Eastern European racial group known as the Khazars.

We'll deal with that issue in more detail in Chapter 7, but for now I wish to note that at least one other CI teacher says the Jews are not the Jews" not be-cause of the connection to the Khazars, but because of a genealogical connection to a biblical character named Shelah.

The author of Exposing The Chosen People Lie connects the people called Jews to "...Shelah...a bastard son of Judah...". Through a complicated series of deductions based in many cases on what the scriptures DON'T say genealogically, the author connects the non-Israelitish Edomites to "the Jews from Elath" that are spoken of in II Kings 16 and subsequently concludes that this tribe became known as Jews. 6.

This flies in the face of the most common view cited by CI advocates. That view is related 10 the people called the Khazars. Some would say the definitive work is the Thirteenth Tribe by Arthur Koestler wherein the author attempts to prove that modern Jews arc actually descended from an ancient European[1~urkie nation that converted to Judaism en masse in the 8th century A.D.

Another common Christian Identity teaching actually states that the Jews are the direct genetic result of an unholy union between Eve and the Serpent in The Garden Of Eden. Even though this view is widespread, at least one Identity writer "...teaches that Satan did not come in the form of a serpent, but instead he had been able to possess one of the black men, and using this beast' he produced Cain." 7.

Yet another Identity view says that shortly before the time of Christ, the Idumacans, descended from Esau, came under the authority of Herod, the king of Judaca and eventually took p re-eminence over the true descendants of Judah. The point is, regardless of which (if any) perspective is historically accurate, the fact is that Christian Identity researchers and teachers don't even agree among themselves; and yet they are always adamant that their view is the right one, and anyone that thinks the Jews ARE the Jews must certainly be in error.

Another significant inconsistency in the Identity movement is the fact that the various adherents haven't even agreed on what to call it. An Oklahoma Identity writer has responded to my charge when I "...call it British Israel; which it is not." 8. Pastor Peter J Peters of The LaPorte Church Of Christ, a prominent Identity group, calls the doctrine Israel Identity. Writer Willie Martini states that "the Jews invented the term British-Israelism." 9. Another gro up in Arkansas say the proper term is Kingdom Identity, while still others say the term is "Anglo-Israelism" and that it originated in England in the Elisabethan era with a man named Richard Brothers in the 18th century. 10. A writer named Richard Hoskins, writing in his newsletter The Hoskins Report, says "The Jews have always known the truth about Saxon-Israel...". ¹¹. One would suspect that if this is true the European Jews persecuted by Hitler would have tried to use that information in order to survive--after all, the CI view includes the Germanic tribes as Israelite. One Identity figure even claims this very tactic was actually used in England in 1650 to try to aid Jewish immigration into the UK. 12.

However, amidst the large body of historical data relative to the various purees and political moves in the Third Reich, there is not one known instance of any "Jew" making the claim that the white Germans were actually their 'Israelite" relations.

One writer says the Jews know the white people of Europe are the Israelites and that they actually encourage them to recognize their heritage because they are confident of their (Jewish) control over the world. Another says the Jews don't know themselves who they are and they truly believe they are Israel. Yet another CI writer says "...the Jews spoken of in Romans 9:24 refer to the house of Judah, Israelites of the Southern Kingdom" 13. while still another CI teacher says the Jews "...are non-Israelites who fallaciously claim to be Israelites. 14.

Even the foundational belief that the white people are the lost tribes is explained differently. Most teach that the Northern 10 tribes wandered in a Northwesterly direction after the Assyrian captivity in the 7th century BC, and settled in the British Isles. Others say they settled in Germany. There is at least one Christian Identity teacher that says the Anglo-Saxon Celts were in Egypt and they built the pyramids! 15.

Some Christian Identity writers say the Jews consistently lie about everything

- -including Saxon history and the so-called "truth" of the white Israel theory. For example, several writers have noted the fact that Talmudic writings indicate that "it is permitted for a Jew to deceive Christians." 16. Another citation from the Zohar book of the Talmud says that "Jews MUST ALWAYS try to deceive Christians. 17.

Yet other Identity figures say the Jews commonly tell the truth! For example, the February 1996 edition of the CI oriented Hoskins Report notes that "through the years the Jews have been relatively honest when discussing early Saxon history." 18. With this degree of contradiction and inconsistency within their own belief system, it is patently absurd for CI proponents to then insist that their interpretation "...is TRUTH that can be proved historically, archaeologically, and Biblically." 19. In the next chapter we will see how the Israel Identity proponents are willing to sacrifice the inerrancy of scripture for their dogmatic view.

 Scriptural Inerrancy

Chapter Three

Many Christian Identity pastors and other leaders seem to have a willingness to attack and even discredit certain scriptures because they stand in the way of their theory. This is an absolutely untenable position that they have placed themselves in, for as we shall See, God is able to preserve his word.

The most common assertion that runs contrary to the inerrancy of scripture is found in the creation epic of Adam and Eve. In an extensive interview in the winter 1996 edition of the Christian Media newspaper, Christian' Identity figure Jonathan David Brown categorically stated "I don't believe all the races are descended from Adam." 1.

In a prophecy oriented newsletter called Watch & Pray, an Identity oriented writer says that the various passages relative to the creation in Genesis dealing with "the beasts of the earth" are applicable to negroes and other non-white peoples. She states that the term "beasts" simply means 'living creatures' and that the word represents sub-human creatures that are not descended from the true man, Adam.

This writer, Marlene Gamble, claims that the scriptures are '…replete with evidence that the beast (living creature) is not a member of the Adamic race, rather he is a black man." 2.

This belief is absolutely identical with the Untermenseh concept that was manifested in Nazi Germany in the 1930's and 1940's. The term Untermenseh means 'sub-human' and the teaching that there is a master race goes back through Freidrich Nietzsche in his Man and Superman and winds its way up to a certain tree that hosted the Serpent--in short, this is Satanically inspired racist doctrine at its worst.

The German version of the white master race theory that is historically referred to as Aryanism is virtually indistinguishable from some aspects of Identity theology. Further, the Germans were taught that the Jew was a spiritual usurper that constantly "...managed to steal (their) heritage" 3 from the rightful heirs--the white master race.

While Identity proponents are incensed at any comparison between their system and the Nazi's, at least one Identity church even has the name Aryan Nations. This writer finds it singularly absurd that Identity leaders react in such an angry fashion to the comparison when it is so obvious that at least three basic tenets are present in both systems:

Another area where the scriptures are twisted and attacked to support this view is in the doctrine of the 'Serpent Seed.' As briefly touched on in the last chapter, most proponents of Identity theology actually teach that the serpent in the garden had sex with Eve and the offspring was Cain, who later murdered his brother Abel.

The Genesis account says that "...the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made." 4. After his well known dialogue with Eve, "...the woman saw that the tree was good for food... (and) she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat . 5. By asserting that the translators erred in reading between the lines,' the Aryans have turned this interaction into a sexual encounter between Eve and the serpent.

Well known radio and television Identity figure Dr. Arnold Murray of The Shepherd's Chapel states "When the Devil came to Eve in the Garden of Eden and seduced her, there was more to it than what the Bible states in Genesis 3:1-8. Not only did Eve eat of the forbidden fruit, but she had sexual intercourse with the Devil and became pregnant from this one time encounter." 6.

One writer claims that because mankind has a natural fear of snakes, Eve would never be having "..a discourse with a serpent/snake! With no fear. I do not believe it for a minute. ..that is simply to far-fetched to be believed literally." 7. When faced with a doctrine established by a plain reading of the text, this particular writer did what all apostates do when the Bible fails to support their dogma--they attack the translation and try to re-define key words in the scriptures.

Through a long and convoluted reasoning, Identity proponents have convinced themselves that a 'secret' understanding behind the biblical account actually leads to the serpent being the ancestor of--you guessed it! The Jews!

"In our opinion, that Serpent never was a snake! In my opinion that serpent was a live flesh and blood person." 8. Some Anglo-Israelites have taken this view to the extreme and even disavowed the existence of a literal Devil.

Incredibly, in complete contradistinction to the many scriptural statements to the contrary, they now believe that the source of all evil in the world is ...the serpent race.. the Pharisees." 9. Another Identity writer blatantly states "...the only Satan I believe there is, is the governments created by men. They are our only adversary." 10.

"Then was Jesus led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil...and when the tempter came to him HE said, if thou be the Son of God…..". Also notice the similarity between this exchange and the Edenic encounter where the Serpent queries Eve "...hath God said?" 12.

There is a distinctive personality present in these accounts--hardly some bizarre collective spirit that is manifested only in the Jews. And where is the government in all this? The text did NOT say '..Jesus was led to be tempted of the GOVERNMENT...'

In lsaiah, the prophet describes the Devil in first person terms by NAME:

Another major prophet, Ezekiel, describes him in clearly supernatural terms as the one that "...hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering...thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou was upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou was perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast CREA TED, till iniquity was found in thee." 14.

 When it comes to the racist dogma of the Serpent Seed, Christian Identity writers ". . .that are unlearned and unstable wrest...the other scriptures, unto their own destruction" 15. even as they condescendingly claim all who disagree with their unscriptural views to be ignorant.

 Because the Bible doesn't readily support his assertion that the black man is actually the 'beast of the field,' writer Nord Davis Jr says "...because of natural errors in the translation through a series of languages, intentional mistranslations, and the normal flavor being lost through idiomatic shifts, rightly dividing the word of God takes considerable study." 16. In other words, he's saying the Bible is in error.

 This same author, actually stoops to combining two obscure ancient Bible translations and removing a key word to come up with an 'Identified' version of Acts 17:26. Compare his bastardized verse with the King James Version of the very same verse:

In removing the word blood, he has conducted what Christian writer John Torell wryly referred to as surgery on the text. Essentially, Nord Davis Jr is willing to twist the word of God here because the Bible clearly says that in Christ, God has made all nations "of one blood" and that statement simply won't due in the Identity perspective. In other words, the motto here seems to be 'My mind is made up--don't try to confuse me with scripture.'

Although the terminology varies from ministry to ministry, many Identity groups refer to the descendants of Cain as the evil race that plagues the Adamite (white) people of the world. These descendants of Cain are called Cainites or sometimes Kenites Dr. Arnold Murray (among others) of The Shepherd's Chapel ministry in Gravette Arkansas subscribes to the racially biased view that the Kenites are the descendents of Cain.

Another major scriptural obstacle to these bizarre theories is the flood of Noah. Even if (and this is a gigantic IF!) the 'Serpent Seed' scenario were true, the flood of Genesis 6 destroyed everyone in the world except for those 8 people in the ark. This means that every person in the world is actually descended through Noah's 3 sons and the Bible provides no hint of any of Identities sub-human classes of humanoids on the ark! In short, after the flood, man was forced to start over with the inhabitants of the ark providing the gene pool.

This in itself destroys the entire Identity system for it depends on multiple classes of creation--i.e. the superior white Adamites and everybody else. Because the Identity system actually requires separate classes of humanoids for the scenario to work (the white Adamites and the various shades of everybody else--i.e. the Untermensch in Nazi parlance), the Identity proponents are forced to, once again, attack the veracity of the scriptures. After all, the Bible states point blank that antediluvian Noah only had three sons and thus everyone must now be descended from those three.

Predictably, Christian Identity writers proclaim that the flood of Noah was not a global event, but was instead a local event. As one CI leader put it, "...the flood was indeed not world wide, and could not have been." 18. This individual goes on to say the flood was not local because his research indicates the dynasties of China and Egypt supposedly continued before and after the flood epoch; but the truth is the Identity system is thoroughly discredited if one believes the scriptures to be infallible. Once again, CI adherents are forced to attack the veracity of the Bible because, in one writer's words, "...it for sure contains some errors. 19.

This particular Identity spokesman says that he prefers a translation called "the Ferrar Fenton version, which comes from the original (;reek text." 20. Presumably the author had to search for a considerable amount of time to find an obscure translation that is corrupt enough to support his central thesis.

 Next, we'll approach one of the darkest aspects of the Identity theology--the focusing of blame for all the world's ills on the most controversial people on Earth--The Jews.

Chapter Four

One of the most consistent streams of commonality in the various Identity organizations is a distinctive willingness to blame the Jews for all the problems in the world. Furthermore, a very high percentage of CI adherents truly believe that the Jews personify the work of the Devil in the world today.

Without addressing the issue of who these "Jews" actually are (or are not--this will be covered in chapter 7), the fact remains that hatred and vindictive-ness towards the collective group of people called Jews is an identifying factor when seeking to recognize the basic beliefs of Israel Identity or Christian Identity believers.

The author of Exploding The Chosen People Myth pointedly names "Jewish promoters" as the driving force behind "...corruption in government, the liquor industry, the murder of unborn babies by abortion, pornographic literature on our news stands, sex education in the school, and other assorted ills "i.

Identity writers of every stripe have produced dozens of volumes focusing criticism on the Jews, accusing them of being the "..deceivers (that) are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh." 2. Literary works with titles like "The Plot Against Christianity" and "Judaism and its Effect on the World Today" systematically state that the worlds problems can all be traced to "...the harmful influence the Jews have exerted for ten centuries." 3.

Another Identity writer views all manifestations of supernatural evil in the world as emanating from this one people. In his hook Exposing The Chosen People Lie, he definitively writes that ".,.as long as the Christians believe that imaginary spooks are the evil forces which are to blame for their problems, conflicts, wars, etc, they will never see that it is the Jew who God has assigned as an evil force here and now." 4.

Another American Christian Identity writer says that the evil caused by the Jews is increasing because "their mating with the unsuspecting Adamites (gives) them even more receptacles into which their Satanic spirits could be injected...." 5.

The venom continues from book to book, and writer to writer--sometimes with a ferocity that is appalling. Even as one Identity proponent blames the Jews as the powers behind "...abortion (and) pornographic literature," 6. another writer connects "...the Jews to prostitution and, even more, to the white-slave traffic..." This particular white separatist, identifying the Jews as the world's propagators of "spiritual pestilence," also connects the Jew's Marxist press production" as the mechanism with which "...a people whose parasitism the whole of honest humanity is suffering, today more than ever...' 7.

 This last writer, an early adherent of those who hold the Jews responsible for the worlds ills, concludes that "...the Jew stops at nothing, and in his vileness he becomes so gigantic that no one need be surprised if among our people the personification of the devil as the symbol of all evil assumes the living shape of the Jews. 8.

I would recommend the reader study the footnotes to determine which quotes were from American Christian Identity writers and which quotes were from Mein Kampf and its infamous author, Adolph Hitler.

Even though American Identity believers usually become apoplectic at comparisons between the Serpent Seed theology and the Third Reich, the theological similarities are deeper than even most realize. In prewar Germany, a noted theologian named Gerhard Kittel created an enormous 10 volume Greek New Testament dictionary that became the standard of his day. It was called Biblia Hebraica, and Kittel's "Christian" influence permeated all of Germany in general, and the upper echelons of the Nazi movement in particular.

As what many consider to be the leading theologian of his day, Kittel's influence provided Hitler's anti-semitic platform with a Christian respectability. As Willian Foxwell Albright put it "Kittel is...even darker and more menacing. ..than Goering or Goebbels." 9. Albright, who was a highly regarded scholar credited Kittel with "...the grim distinction of making extermination of the Jews theologically respectable." 10.

The assignment of the Serpent Seed role to the Jews by Identity proponents is actually quite ironic for although most Identity proponents consider themselves conservatives, the doctrine is actually New Age and Gnostic in origin. The very similar occultic oriented concept of the Root Race predates the Reich and Identity by several decades. The Theosophical Society, and its founder HP Blavatsky, propagated the doctrine of "the great white brotherhood." They got it from ancient esoteric teachings related to Hinduism and Karma from India, and the Jams of India got it from Babylon. In short, this goes all the way back to The Tower Of Babel.

It's not an accident that the Nazi adopted term Aryan is a sanskrit word from India. Also note the modern Identity manifestation under the name Aryan Nations. Blavatsky's Theosophical Society, previously known as The Aryan Theosophical Society, also proposed that non-whites be assigned the role of sub-human--Untermensch in the Nazi vocabulary. Theosophy leader Annie Besant suggested an inquiry should begin with "...any savage of the lowest type, the aborigines of Australia, the Veddhas of Ceylon, the hairy men of Borneo--these are scarcely human, yet they are human...he has practically no mind and no morals, only the germs of them. 11.

The gnostics and occultists that influenced biblical scholar Gerhard Kittel did their work well for in 1933 he joined the Nazi party and using his Christian credentials, he "...produced a body of work between t933 and 1944 filled with hatred and slander toward Jews." 12. It's important to remind the reader that Christian churches all across Germany enthusiastically embraced the anti-Semitism of National Socialism.

To appreciate the scope of the influence, we might draw an analogy. In the US, huge numbers of Christians use Strongs Exhaustive Concordance to look up words in their Bible. To put it metaphorically, Gerhard Kittel was the James Strong of Germany.

What would be the impact on Christianity if the Identity movement had such a highly respected Biblical scholar that would say this theology gives him the ...full freedom to murder...just as you should smash the brains of even the best snake...(this is) justification for the most anti-Jewish acts." 13.

I believe that given the appropriate set of political and prophetic developments, the Christian Identity movement has the potential to go this far off the track.

The comparisons between some Identity writers and various metaphysical and occultic writings is chillingly similar. Compare CI's Nord Davis Jr's statement "...all races have a particular racial memory that God has built into them for their own good" with "Each one of us has a national, racial, and family Karma from the occultic book Toward A World Religion For A New Age. 14.

The American Identity author that wrote about pre-existing "Satanic spirits...(that) could be injected into...physical bodies....' 15. is describing "...the theory of Karma, which re-assigned a reincarnating soul to a body representative of its spiritual development.'. 16. Indeed, the occultists over a century ago said that the Jews were a people in whom "...the sacred spark is missing and it is they who are the only inferior race on the globe". 17.

To be certain, this scapegoat thinking is not universal among Identity adherents, but it is unquestionably a dominant feature in a majority of instances. In some CI circles, [t seems no historical or scriptural stone remains unturned in the flood of justification for attributing evil practices to the Jews.

Even the scriptural 'proof text" of Genesis 12:3 that is so frequently cited to codify good relations between Christians and Jews is rolled out in the aggressive Identity arsenal. Readers will recall that Abraham, who received the blessing from God as the Father of Faith,' was the antecedent of all the children of Israel as well as those that "...receive the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe..."

I will bless them that at bless thee? and, I will curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. " (Genesis 12:3)

While that text is commonly used to demonstrate that God has a very specific destiny for "all the house of Israel AND the house of Judah" 19. as the physical descendants of Abraham, author Gordon Mohr actually tries to reverse this blessing/curse by stating that if the passage is actually referring to Jews, then the Soviet Union should have been blessed because "...they are the only known nation which has forbidden anti-Semitism by law." 20.

This statement is not only absurd, it is patently untrue. Several modern nations, including France, Germany, and England (to say nothing of The United States) have laws on the hooks forbidding racial and ethnic hatred. Further, the statement skirls the true issue by noting a law against anti-Semitism by the Soviets while ignoring the historical animosity the Russians have demonstrated towards the Jews.

It is easily confirmed that the 'very word Pogrom is a distinctive term that is specifically utilized to describe the historical Jewish persecutions at the hands of the Russian nationalists.

The very idea that one race is patently inferior to the balance of humanity runs contrary to so many verses in the Bible that it's difficult to know where to begin to refute the notion. The Apostle Paul, in referencing the differences between Jew and non-Jew (the latter usually called Gentiles) writes that "...Are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; As it is written, There is none righteous, no not one..." 21.

 This particular Issue Is not a question of whether or not the people that call themselves Jews actually are Jewish--it is a question of whether or not the scriptures allow believers to attribute such evil characteristics to a particular racial or religious group and to then, accordingly, treat that group with contempt. While we are called to expose and stand up for the truth, the fundamental thesis of Christianity and the Gospel is built around the concept of redeemed man, spiritually conforming his ways to the Son of God and loving one's enemies--not persecuting and lashing out at them.

 The New Testament elaborately articulates the fashion in which we are to observe the spirit of the law in our relationships and how we should "Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time." 22. In fact, in the very next verse, the Apostle further instructs us to "Let your speech be always with grace..." 23. This would seem to run counter to the teachings of the Identity movement, at least in regard to crusading against one particular group of presumed offenders.

 On another level, the holy scriptures make it clear that the source of evil in the world cannot he considered a particular race or creed, but a hierarchical structure of spiritual powers. In the classic text concerning our REAL enemy, the Word Of God asserts that "...we wrestle NOT against Flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." 24.

 It is certainly true that Satan has his disciples in constant opposition to the true chosen of God. Jesus did say to the Jewish leaders "Ye are of your father the Devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do." 25. Later, when Pontius Pilate sought to release Jesus from the false charges brought against him, the Jews pressed him saying "Let him be crucified." After thoroughly reviling Him, insulting Him, and cursing Him, they willingly brought a curse upon themselves when they called out and said "His blood be on us, and on our children." 26.

 Even with these egregious sins against him, Jesus said "Father forgive them for they know not what they do." 27.

 Several parables taught by Yahshua illustrate in concise terms the true path that a follower of The Lord should embark upon. The parable of the wheat and tares is a priceless example. You'll recall the tale consists of a man planting wheat in his field and soon after finding someone had planted weeds, or tares, in among the wheat.

 When both crops became evident, ". ..the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence than hath it tares? He said unto them, an enemy hath done this."

 After his servants offered to pull up the weeds, the Lord told them not to do it. The text strikingly illustrates why certain actions are not permissable on the part of the believer. The Lord forbid the premature reaping of the harvest,

Although this parable should be obvious, our Lord even chose to specifically interpret the parable so there should be no misunderstanding. "The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world." 29.

 Please note that the Devil is a distinctive character in this parable even if he is seen to have spiritual descendants--evildoers that we are specifically instructed not to uproot as that task is reserved for the angels at the great harvest. There is even the tacit understanding that our discernment may be less than perfect in the matter as the text clearly states we might mistakenly pull up some Wheat while trying to get at the tares. I submit a wise course of action is to be very careful regarding the usurping of the authority that belongs to the Lord.

 To phrase it another way, when the Holy Spirit inspired Solomon to write "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven," I don't think he had Der Fuehrer's "final solution" in view.

The Jews are not the true enemy--they are, like so many others, the real enemy's victims.

Chapter Five

One of the primary reasons the British Israel or Israel Identity movement has sustained its popularity for so long is the fact that certain components of the system are actually true. As is the case in most abberant or cultic theologies, a large lie is easily detected by anyone with even a casual understanding of scripture. Unfortunately there is just enough truth in the Identity theology to make it difficult to discern where the truth ends and the subtle distortions begin.

 A good example of this mixture of truth and fiction is found in the view that the Jews are not actually one of the tribes of Israel. There is actually fairly strong historical evidence that the ethnic stock of the Jewish people has been significantly mixed with the Edomites--also known as the Idumeans. While we will deal with this subject more extensively in chapter 7, for now suffice it to say that ancient historical evidences, particularly those accounts found in The Jewish Wars from the historian Joseph us, show that many of the people in the land of Judaca actually are descended from Esau, i.e. the Edomites.

 Identity writers have been quick to utilize this information in their quest to separate the Jews from the larger body of Israelites. However, there is no indication whatsoever that the actual genetic line of the Judacan people was somehow discontinued or melded into the Idumaens to such a degree that their stock would actually disappear; and this fact is always underscored or ignored altogether. In other words, even though there are indicators that another racial group has quietly become a part of the people that are known as Jews, the 'original' inhabitants of Judaea are still at least partially present.

Another example of this subtle shift from the truth through the tactic of omission is the attempt to separate Christianity from it's Judaistic roots. Please allow me to demonstrate through the following Identity oriented quotation:

"The Judaism of today is not the law and the prophets of the Old Testament, but the heathen occult religion of ancient Babylon." 1.

This statement is actually true as far as it goes, for much of modern Judaism is Kabbalistic or Talmudic in nature, and as such, is not in conformity with the Old Covenant. This does not show, however, that there is no such thing as Jewish people actually attempting to follow The Torah (the law) as revealed in the Old Testament. That religious practice, even though an attempt that is apart from the required relationship with Jesus Christ that is articulated in the New Testament, would most certainly qualify as Judaism.

 A continuation of this same tactic may be found in another Identity oriented statement on essentially the same subject: "Biblical Christianity is built on the teachings of Jesus Christ and divine revelation as it was given to his Apostles. It has absolutely nothing in common with Judaism as anyone can see...." 2. The way this statement is slanted is extremely clever for it sounds somewhat accurate, but it is actually a very carefully crafted error.

 Once again, in this statement, the writer is predicating his view on the assumption that the term Judaism only applies to that degraded spiritual condition that Christ found his people in during his walk on the earth. In other words, just as in the first example not ALL the Jews were overcome with the teachings and traditions of the elders; therefore, Judaism may still be used to describe the Old Covenant under which Old Testament believers looked forward to the coming of the Messiah of Israel.

 A good example of this is found in the scriptural account of Zacharias the priest, and his wife Elizabeth. Even though they were under the Old Testament law, the Bible says "...they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless." 3. That's in the NEW TESTAMENT, but it is stated before Jesus was even born. To put it another way, if they weren't devout practitioners of Judaism, then what was their religion?

 In truth, Judaism IS largely operating in stark opposition to the law and the statutes in the Old Testament because it has come under the mystical teachings that were developed during the Babylonian captivity; but that fact does not separate the revealed truth in Jesus Christ from the law and the covenants as enumerated in the Old Testament. The statement that Biblical Christianity "...has nothing in common with Judaism" 4. is yet another subtle attempt to separate Christianity from Judaism in a systematic effort to separate the Jewish people from the law, the prophets, and the salvation that culminates in the Messianic hope--that hope being fulfilled in the person of Jesus the Messiah.

 The fact is, Christianity is immersed in the law and the Old Testament. Christ quoted OT scripture and fulfilled prophecy on a wholesale level. Paul went to great lengths to articulate the relationship between the law (the OT) and grace (the NT). Jesus honored the Old Testament feast days of Israel. He preached in the synagogues on the Sabbath. On two separate occasions when he healed lepers, he ordered them to fulfill the ritual requirements of cleansing by showing themselves to the priest--all in accordance with the law-see Luke 5:14 & 17:14.

 The mixing of truth and fantasy in the various manifestations of the Identity movement sometimes produces bizarre and wildly unscriptural views. One Identity writer has tens of thousands of disembodied spirits of fallen angels waiting for more 'Cainites' to be born so they can possess them. The reader will recall the 'Cainites' are the supposed descendants of the Serpent and Eve--the so-called Serpent Seed discussed in chapter three.

 This same writer has white "...Adamites who had lost their psychic abilities when they were transferred from their first birthplace in heaven into the earth." 5 The concept described here concerning some form of a pre-existing soul is positively unscriptural and demonically inspired. It is Eastern mysticism and related to the Hindu Wheel of Karma where all souls are preexisting and waiting for some form of incarnation or reincarnation. Once again, this "doctrine of demons" is slipped in under the guise of 'exposing the Edomites'--clearly a Christian Identity theme.

 In other cases, CI writers simply distort the fact that their abberant doctrines have been rejected on the basis of their belief that they belong to the 50-called 'Lost Tribes Of Israel.' The author of This Book Of The Law? recounts how "...one of the reasons I have lost past acquaintances is because I am doing all I know to do to live for Christ as King right now." 6. While this CI advocate would have you think his severed relationships are due to upholding the truth, the fact that he's teaching that the "U.S. constitution is a Jewish fable" and "the book of Revelation has been totally fulfilled" 7. might also have just a bit to do with it. Or perhaps it was his assertion that

 "The serpent in the garden was a bi-ped two legged creature they call homosapien." 8. Or this little gem: "The New Jerusalem came down in fullness in 70 AD when old Jerusalem was destroyed." 9, In short, his doctrines are from the pit, but this CI writer apparently chooses to characterize the fact that Christians have rejected these doctrines as though they are a result of his "doing all I know to live for Christ." to.

 The distortions and blending of truth and fiction seemingly know no bounds in CI writer's perspectives. For example, Gordon Mohr refers to the "...Satanic doctrine that the Jews are His chosen people, therefore anything they do is all right and must be accepted." 11 Even if it could be established that the Jews are actually the "chosen people," there is not one verse of scripture that implies that "anything they do is all right and must be accepted." Indeed, the scriptures mandate that "as concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes..." 12. That hardly sound like an admonition to accept "anything" the Jews do.

 Writer Joe Garnett, in a tract called who Does God Love? writes that, in response to the title question, "A great majority of Christians would answer the above question 'everyone' or 'the world,' meaning everyone in the world. It is the contention of this writer that such an answer is false and thus detrimental to Christianity." 13. While Garnett does not advocate other portions of the Identity theology, this perspective is representative of the Identity view. In short, the CI scenario mandates that God hates certain ethnic groups.

 This superfluous bit of nonsense is actually aimed at establishing God's "hatred" for Esau 14. (who CI proponents claim is the forebear of the people calling themselves Jews) & somehow canceling out John 3:16.

 How plain can the scriptures actually get? "For God so loved the WORLD, that he gave his only begotten son, that WHOSOEVER believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life." That "whosoever" seems to keep the option of salvation open to everyone--even if they have the misfortune of being born into one of the races the Identity folks consider to be the sub-human Untermensch.

 There is no argument, no learning, no doctrinal statement that can get around John 3:16; yet this writer dares to assert that "...it is improper to con-elude that John 3:16 is teaching that God loves everyone." is, If language or words mean anything, God does indeed "love the world" for the Bible tells me so; and because he is the Lord who "changeth not" I must presume that he still LOVES the world, and his offer that "WHOSOEVER believeth in him should not perish" still has the seal of a promise from God almighty. It's written in the blood of his only son, and its the gospel of salvation.

 It is amazing how some Identity teachers can twist the Word of God to the degree that the text actually means the exact opposite of its obvious rendering. I think it was writer Chuck Missler that said "If you torture the text long enough, it will confess to anything." I find this principle to be true.

 Christian Identity teacher Nord Davis Jr is so convinced that some races are predestined to eternal torment that he teaches it is inappropriate to even attempt evangelization of many racial groups. He writes "Why bother to extend the Gospel to them? So, to further establish what we taught earlier, there is no way that ALL MEN can be saved, for Satan's seed are obviously excluded from those glorious ranks." 16.

 The full manifestation of this lie is evident in the racist perspective this view generates towards non-whites. Like other scripture spouting racists in this movement, Davis believes the 'mud people' are not actually human--and therefore not under the law and in need of salvation. He writes that since the black man's "...children are not descended from Adam, they were never placed under the Law of Moses. Thus, they are not under the jurisdiction of The Law, and lawfully they are not, and never were, sinners." 17.

 Once again, there is just enough twisted logic in this that many people are willing to open up their "itching ears" to receive such an abysmal doctrine.

 It's unfortunate that many Christian Identity teachers heavily utilize the Old Testament and the Law in an effort to perpetuate their heresy, for it is the lack of reverence to the Law that has actually led the modern church astray. The tactic goes back to the first century, but it was really mastered by the Mormons, and their spiritual descendant, Herbert W Amrstrong--an early American proponent of British Israelite thinking.

 In his foundational document 18 Restored Truths, Identity teacher Armstrong piles the heretical teaching on top of the Law "Restored Truth" number3 says "...that we are to be born of God and become God." 18. Isn't that precisely what the serpent said in the garden? "Ye shall be as gods:.." 19. He repeats this one in point number 7 with "We have the great opportunity of being made God and, in the future, to rule over others..." 20.

 Once this CI teacher has them to that point, they'll buy anything like "Restored Truth" number 10 where the unsaved get a 2nd chance in the Millenium where "...they'll have 100 years to prove they want to live differently than they did in their first life." 21. Of course, there's not a trace of Bible to support any of this fabulous nonsense, but that never stopped Herbert W.

 This perversion of scripture is an excellent indicator of why this entire issue is so important. The scripture teaches that if we allow iniquity or an idolotrous doctrine to get a toehold in our heart, we become even more vulnerable to deceptive doctrines that can then lead us to spiritual desolation. In Ezekiel chapter 14, we find the truth:

This is a very scary teaching for it says that God will not penetrate the "idols in his heart" (read doctrine), or "the stumblingblock of his iniquity" (sinful practices that blind the individual) with his answers to a believers prayer. The passage is addressed to believers (every man of the house of Israel) and God says he will "taketh the wise in their own craftiness. ...because they are all estranged from me THROUGH their idols" 23. In short, YOU must remove the stumblioghlock of false doctrine.

 Paul warned about "another gospel (that) would pervert the gospel of Christ." He also pronounced a curse that "...If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed." 24. Later in that same letter of Galatians, he indicated that this 'other gospel' would be related to "...the Spirit by the works of the law (and) by the hearing of faith." 25. He then zeroed in on the deception and clearly stated it was related to a legalistic emphasis on the works of the law instead of the grace of Christ: "Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?" 26

 The Identity doctrine indirectly places an emphasis on the genetic birthright (the flesh), and therefore establishes a beachhead for the "doctrines of demons" that are carefully embedded in the theological system. It starts off with a piety and intensity of service towards God combined with a recognition of his plan to draw a people out of the world. It ends up as a theological justification for a racist, white supremacist system of works that opens the door of the adherent's heart to a tremendous departure from the faith---in short, it's another gospel.

 Those that would pervert the Plain Truth of the gospel which is available to all people would do well to heed this warning.

Chapter Six

One tactic that is frequently utilized in the dissemination of the Identity view is to characterize the view in nationalistic terms combined with a 'reasonable' or culturally accessible attitude. One way this works is to carefully bring the reader along in a chronological articulation of the Identity view that opens the dialogue with something that is quite benign and then gradually moves towards the more unpleasant aspects of the system. Gordon Mohr's publication Exploding The Chosen People Myth is the epitome of this technique.

 In the FIRST page he discusses the very reasonable notion that "all subjects can be intelligently examined." 1. By the time he gets to the LAST 2 pages, he's singing the Battle Hymn of the Republic, even as his polemic zeros in on "...the greedy clutches of the international leeches... and the American pastors who have become male prostitutes for the International Zionists." 2 The attempt at resuscitating feelings of patriotic zeal are a common thread running throughout the CI movement. Author Mohr quotes no less a patriotic figure than Benjamin Franklin even as another Christian Identity writer cites aviation pioneer Charles Lindberg--both warning about the malevolent influence of the Jews on the American way of life. Sheldon Emry, another very well known Identity writer, even cites from letters written by the patriotic Puritans that came over to America on the Mayflower!

 The writer of the CI tract Gospel Law versus Talmudic Traditions starts his communiqué with an accurate observation of the despicable political condition in the USA with the statement "Americans watch as laws are enacted that shift away from the protection of the Constitution...Christians watch as the new moral laws are passed to tolerate evil behavior...What mysterious power can prevail in a largely Christian country that opposes evil...." 3 This "patriotic" writer ultimately states that the 'mysterious power' is the Traditions of the Elders, yet another form of the Jewish 'menace' that Christ so adamantly opposed in the New Testament.

 Identity oriented publications with names like The Christian Patriot Crusader and Clouds Over America closely intertwine the CI message with the national pride that was once a foundational tenet of the American mindset. Speakers and writers attacking the liberal left seem to be everywhere with statements like 'this country was founded on the Bible' even as they play Carl Klang's patriotic opus 'We Want This Country Back!' 4.

 The fact is, we DO want this country back because it has been stolen from us by "certain men (that) crept in unawares...that are of the world: therefore speak they of the world and the world heareth them." 5. The question is, did we really lose the country because of the Jews?

 Many in the American patriot movement have deep Christian convictions and not a few are Christian Identity adherents. The patriot movement, while not exclusively white, is overwhelmingly populated by Caucasian Americans. The New World Order of multi-culturalism, affirmative action, mixed marriages, and Gay & Lesbian rights is an affront as it moves forward largely at the expense of a vanishing minority--the White Anglo-Saxon Protestant.

When looking at the political environment in America, it's hard not to wince at the audacity of mainstream media in the suppression of every trace of information that is politically incorrect. The fact is, whenever black husbands murder white wives, with very few exceptions, the media suppresses it--all for the sake of keeping a lid on an inflammatory news item. The media consistently lies or is 'color blind' relative to crime when the statistics are inescapable: Black people and Latinos, while still a minority in America, commit the overwhelming majority of crimes. It is not racist to observe the truth.

 Whenever any truth of this nature actually escapes the hands of the media manipulators, they pointedly blame a lack of available social programs--or they blame funding shortfalls, or they blame discrimination, or they blame society in general, etc. The media NEVER suggests minorities clean up their own act and take responsibility for their own actions. Period. The white separatists and Identity adherents see these inequities very clearly, for they are routinely blamed for the 'racial problems' in America!

 When hundreds of Latinos in Southern California marched under flags with hammers and sickles in opposition to a recent controversial initiative, the national media was careful to shield those images from the rest of the nation. In that particular episode, the California populace voted overwhelmingly to deny social entitlements to non-citizen illegals even as the Supreme Court raced to overturn the citizen's political selection. The media failed to voice any rancor over the judicial branch simply ignoring the will of the people because that will was politically incorrect as it sharply highlighted the truth of the ethnic dilemma that America finds itself uncomfortably saddled with--and white people look on in disgust as their interests are thwarted at every turn.

 The mainstream media ignores the disproportionate Jewish power in the American government, because the mainstream media IS truly disproportionately controlled by politically liberal Jewish interests--both directly and indirectly. The US government is the biggest hypocrite in the world, for in a society that prides itself on equal access, non-discrimination, and affirmative action, the truth is if we were to actually grant proportionate power based on ethnic considerations, the US government would have to fire almost every cabinet level head in the federal government for they are overwhelmingly Jewish.

 A rarely disclosed fact is that although the Jewish people are under 1% of the population, they hold over one third of the senior posts in the American government! Even American Jewish periodicals have noted this obvious imbalance. The New York based tabloid The Jewish Press recently noted that "Of the seven advisers on whom...Bill Clinton relies, at least 5 are Jewish..." 6. Is it anti-Semitic to point this out? The mainstream media would say yes.

 I haven't even scratched the surface on this point, but I mention it because it's imperative that we see that at least some of the political resentment that is barely submerged in Identity circles is due to a government that is genuinely discriminatory towards white America. When Jewish political power is examined, invariably the party that is pointing these things out is labeled anti-Semitic!

 Identity America knows that if black people align themselves into a national organization, such as the National Association For The Advancement Of Colored People (NAACP) it is referred to as a civil rights group. If white people band together to help other white people, they are called white supremacists! Obviously, something is dreadfully wrong in America.

 The point here is that many, many disenfranchised Caucasian? Christians are acutely aware of these enormous inequities and therefore respond emotionally and patriotically to a seemingly 'Christian' theology that explains why this shift in power has occurred. People like pat answers laid out in a straight forward way. They want their truth to be easily digestible and unless a believer is deeply rooted in an abiding relationship with Jesus Christ coupled with an enduring study of the Holy Bible, they're very likely to lose their way.

 Furthermore, the Identity view puts an actual face on the enemy--and calls him Jewish. Obviously, Jewish people by and large don't recognize the divinity of Jesus Christ, but it further exacerbates matters when the Identity proponent realizes that the overwhelming majority of Jews in America are liberal Democrats or Socialists. In short, the Jewish component in America is indeed politically powerful and they form a significant portion of New World Order change agents whose agenda is clearly the assimilation of all people and nations into a global government saddled with a world religious ethic.

 This 'mingling' of all people under the aegis of a one world government and a one world religion is not necessarily because of some Jewish conspiracy, nor because the white people are the 'lost tribes' of Israel that have 'found themselves' in a discriminatory political environment that is a foreordained manifestation of God's punishment of his people Israel. It is because the governments of the world and the people that lead them are serving the ...principalities (and) powers...(and) the rulers of the darkness of this world." 7.

 Furthermore, these globalist conspirators subscribe to the diabolical philosophy known as the Hegelian Dialectic--Thesis versus Antithesis equals Synthesis. This political chicanery in America is specifically designed to completely destroy the social fabric and economic vitality of America. This will then result in such Chaos that the people will willingly respond to the Satanically empowered man that will offer them firm leadership. The demonic tactic is also known as Order Ab Chaos, or order out of chaos.

 The dark powers are not Jewish or non-Jewish per Se. They are simply evil men working in a conspiratorial fashion to destroy all opponents and potential opponents. Their hatred of white America is because the last bastion of political opposition to an oppressive world government is clearly the individual white American that is clutching his constitutional rights in one hand and his personal firearm in the other. In short, the system has been carefully calculated incorporating the most efficient methodology for destroying this vanishing breed of white patriotic Americans.

 The fact is, the Identity theology is a meticulously thought out system that has been tactically utilized to manipulate disenfranchised citizenry into a frenzied state of national patriotism. The nature of this system requires a political scapegoat in order for the 'good' citizens of the state to avoid taking the blame for their previous political paralysis. In the final analysis, this outflowing of patriotism will actually contribute to the chaos for the deck is clearly stacked against all who would oppose the emerging conspiratorial powers.

 Historically speaking, the very same appeal to nationalistic pride occurred in Germany during the waning years of the Republic--at the onset of the Nazification of the nation. The historical parallels are chilling, for the people enthusiastically embraced the National Socialists (Nazi's) as the answer to the steady drift towards leftist political and social encroachment. When the Vatican finally normalized its unholy concordat with Hitler, the last component of theological justification for the onslaught to come was in place.

 The same thing is now happening in the American Identity movement. While some believe this movement will bring about a renewal of the historic faith in Jesus Christ through a realization that white America is actually an about to be severely chastised modern day Israel, I see a darker fate as the Identity forces are far better prepared for the inevitable Apocalypse than their dispensational counterparts in the church of Laodicia.

 There are a considerable number of white men that love their country and hate the 'free ride' that many minorities have duplicitously engineered in the form of entitlements. Democracy has clearly devolved into a mob rule of corrupt special interests and the very idea that any white man that recognizes such injustice is a special person in the eyes of God is an intoxicating spiritual brew.

 The fact that Identity advocates are almost 100% survivalist oriented is a strong indicator that portions of this movement will survive the first wave or two of destructions associated with The Tribulation. They are well armed and in a position of wisely having stockpiled provisions for they are not hampered with the mindless doctrine of the pre-tribulation Rapture that instructs its adherents to throw caution to the wind and embrace a vapid stupidity in terms of preparation--both physically and spiritually.

 Concurrently, I see Jewish power in America virtually disappearing as the catastrophes scheduled to strike the USA in the near future look to be focused on the largest metropolitan regions--precisely where the largest concentrations of American Jewry lives.

 In this writer's view, the very fact that this theology is growing rapidly in pre-Apocalyptic America is a rather strong indicator that the specter of the Nazi movement is now moving across our land--albeit in a reconfigured Christian Identity format. The major difference in the American re-manifestation of the Jewish scapegoat system is this modern version is a theological mutation that fuses Old Testament legalism with the ancient antagonism towards the Jews. In short, the Christian Identity system may very well be the precursor to the Fourth Reich.

 This political backlash worked in Germany and the results were terrifying. In the German experiment, the republic was in disastrous condition and the Jews were at least partially responsible. Of course, history seems to show that the real culprit was the Anglo-Saxons themselves and the incredibly oppressive conditions imposed on the Germans during the aftermath of World War I

 ---but the Jews were a more immediate and politically convenient target. It is a well established fact that Adolph Hitler received theological justification for his Jewish purges with a distorted view of 'Christian' theology--both Catholic and Protestant. Even now in the American Identity movement which has found its roots largely in Protestant circles, at least one major Identity publication has begun distributing books by Catholic priests--all with a decidedly anti-Jewish slant. After all, for many centuries Catholic theology has taught that Christians have completely 'replaced' unrepentant Israel in God's plan. To a large extent, the Identity movement is actually a subset of the more benign Replacement Theology long taught in Papal seminaries around the world.

 To put it another way, the same seed that grew into a monstrosity in Germany in the 1930's is now beginning to flower in America in the 1990's.

 For those who say that 'it can't happen here,' I would respectfully suggest they need a shower--specifically one with some cold water striking the recipient directly in the face--for the truth is, it is ALREADY happening here.

 Few people recognize that Hitler's power base was in complete accord with the aberrant theology taught in the Christian church of his day. Indeed, his various statements and writings show that he clearly stated that he had been raised up by God for his 'holy' mission.

 "…today I believe that l am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator: by defending myself against the Jew, l am fighting for the work of the Lord." --Adolph Hitler, 1924. 8

 The concern in this camp is that the myth of the white Aryan master man will again be resurrected in America--a dark future indeed for the white man.

Chapter Seven

I've saved the last two characteristics of Kingdom Identity for the last portions of this little book as these two points arc the most crucial in the entire system. They have to do with who is whom in the scheme of things, and CI leaders have (rightfully so) recognized that it is crucial to know and understand who God's people are, and who they are not.

 The first of these last two beliefs states that the Jews are not actually the Jews; or to be more precise the belief states that the people we know as Jews are not actually Israelites. The second issue is closely related for it states that the Israelites don't actually live in Israel at all: they are the white European peoples known as English, German, Irish, Scotch, and of course, American.

 Both identifications stand or fall together. In other words, if either proposition is seen to be false, the other must be highly suspect for both streams of thought were developed from the same logic, the same scriptural proof texts, related archaeological research, and indeed the same leaders and writers. In short, both these teachings are fruit from the same tree. In this chapter, 1 will attempt to cover the issue of the true identity of the Jews.

 As briefly alluded to in an earlier chapter, there are several theories as to why the Jews were allegedly replaced by another non-Israelite ethnic group of people. Each of these theoretical replacements are actually unrelated to each other.

 In the Identity world view, the Kilazars, the Idumaens, and the Kenites are the three primary candidates for the people that allegedly became known as the Jews. These peoples are from different time periods and to a certain extent, different geographical locales. There are believed to be other theoretical groups that have been named as candidates for the race that secretively "became" the Jews, as well as variations on the scenarios presented here, but these three are fairly representative of the Christian Identity system.

 Actually, the fact that there are 3 different versions of who the Jews "really are" is significant in itself because with conflicting claims as to who the alleged usurper actually was, it should be apparent that the initial presumption that the Jews are not Israelites was already in the mind of the various researchers before they found their supposed "evidence" to support their convictions. To put it another way, this is an indicator that some persuasive people were already convinced that the Jews are NOT Israelites and they then proceeded to develop theoretical systems as to who these "Jews" actually are. This would explain why some adherents to the theory came up with different explanations than others. We'll examine each of these three claims one at a time.

The Khazars were a 7th century AD Indo-Turkic tribe that lived in the steppe regions of Southern Russia. Although the historical records are sketchy, it has been fairly well established that their King Bhutan converted to Judaism and the entire nation subsequently converted to the same religious faith. Although this nation/state was very powerful at one time, they eventually dissolved through migration as they spread throughout much of Eastern Europe. The theory says that over the centuries, they became the Ashkenazim branch of modern Jewry that settled in Poland, Germany, and subsequently in modern times, Palestine.

 One CI writer authoritatively writes that research proves "...that over 90 percent of the people known as Jews are not descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob..History reveals they are actually descendants of the fierce Turkish, Mongolian Khazar tribes…Today, the Khazars are known as Jews not because of race, but because of religion." 1.

 The idea that this particular group of Jewish converts somehow supplanted the actual descendants of Judah in the various European countries during the middle ages and later is simply unsupported by historical evidence; however, the primary refutation of this particular view is found in the best of all places:

The Bible itself Not only is there virtually no concrete historical evidence to actually connect these Khazars with the Jews in the approximately l,400 years that have elapsed since the 7th century, the scriptures repeatedly prophecy that in the last days as well as the Millennium, the tribe of Judah will still be intact as one of the 12 tribes of Israel.

 Isaiah 11 says that God will move "…again the second time to recover the remnant of his people...and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth." 2. This prophecy indicates the Jews, who are the "dispersed of Judah" are located in "the four corners of the earth," before God gathers them back into their ancient promised land.

 Furthermore, this is a Millennial prophecy set to reach final fulfillment during the 1,000 year reign of Christ, for the same passage says this occurs when "The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them." 3.

 Presumably, The Lord will be able to distinguish between some Khazars' masquerading as Jews and the genuine article--at least in Isaiah's thinking. In another series of prophecies concerning the thousand year reign of Jesus, the Lord says through the prophet Zechariah "I am returned unto Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and Jerusalem shall be called a city of truth

…I will save my people from the east country, and from the west country; And I will bring them, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem...in truth and in righteousness...and the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in the streets thereof." 4.

At no time since this prophecy was written have these conditions been true, therefore this is a prophetic text dealing with a future time of peace and joy under Messiah In the next paragraph, the prophet states that the Jews will be in the center of these blessings "So again have I thought in these days to do well unto Jerusalem and to the house of Judah...." 5.

Although the Jews (the house of Judah) have already been gathered into the land as Isaiah and Zechariah have prophesied, the full manifestation of the conditions described here await the final purging of the Tribulation followed by the 2nd coming of Christ to exhaust the prophecy.

 Zechariah is filled with last days prophecies concerning the Jews and their regathering into the land as well as the city of Jerusalem. "Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against JUDAH and against Jerusalem. And in that day I will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that

burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it." 6. These verses could be taken from today's newspaper, for the modern state of Israel is even now on the brink of yet another war with their many Moslem opponents.

 Are we really to believe that the people in Jerusalem are actually European Khazars and God's prophets have mistakenly labeled them JUDAII? Describing the great war that is just around the corner, God says "In that day...I will open mine eyes upon the house of JUDAH...And the governors of JUDAH shall say in their heart, The inhabitants of Jerusalem shall be my strength in the Lord of hosts their God." 7.

 Throughout the entire chapter God explicitly states this will occur at the 2nd coming when "The Lord also shall save the tents of Judah...and he that is feeble among them at THAT DAY shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the Lord before them." 8. The Word of God leaves no doubt that the prophet is referring to the end of the age, for he specifically connects all of the saving of the house of Judah with the Tribulation and the 2nd coming.

 "And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him as one mourneth for his only son 9. Here the Khazar scenario completely falls about, for the house of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, in a spiritual rebirth of grace, will look upon Jesus "whom THEY have pierced."

 The Jews demanded the crucifixion of Jesus in 33 AD--almost 700 years before the first 'Khazar' was born.

 The obvious question here is if the people in Jerusalem claiming to be Jews are actually non-Jewish Rhazars, how could they have 'pierced' him 700 years be lore they ever existed? In the very same passage, the prophet further confirms the fact that these regathered modern inhabitants of Jerusalem are the very same people that 'pierced' their Saviour for he notes how they will mourn "...in bitterness for him" 10. as they realize that Jesus Christ, the one they crucified two thousand years ago, is their Saviour.

Another suggested line of usurpers are called the Kenites. This one is baffling for it has virtually no scriptural support whatsoever, but it is gaining in popularity for it is taught by Dr. Arnold Murray whose Shepherd's Chapel ministry is apparently expanding substantially. This version is related to the Serpent Seed theology wherein Cain, the first son of Adam and Eve is actually said to be the offspring of Eve and the Serpent.

 Later on, Cain (sometimes spelled Kain in certain margin notes) is said to be linked to the racial group known as Kenites. Somehow Dr. Murray and others have developed a theory wherein the Kenites have been integrated into the tribes of Israel and they've supplanted the Jews. Further, some Identity figures claim that any white people that should be Adamites that fail to follow this interpretation are actually Kenites--i.e. descendants of Adam that have become followers of the Serpent.

 There is not a shred of scripture that even hints at the Kenites secretly be-coming the Jews, but the plain teaching of the Bible rarely stops Dr. Murray from propagating something he believes. In the few passages in the Old Testament where we see the people called Kenites, they are actually held in favor by the Israelites, for these people were distant relatives as well as friends of Israel. The book of Judges shows that "Heber the Kenite...was of the children of Hobab the father in law of Moses..." 11 The wife of Heber, a woman named Jael, was honored during the time of the Judges as she stealthily slays the enemy of the Israelites, Sisera the Canaanite general.

 About 300 years later, Saul cautions the Kenites to get away from the Amalekites because he is going to destroy them, and the Kenites have "...shewed kindness to all the children of Israel," 12.50 Saul wants to spare them the fate of Amalek and his cohorts.

 In I Chronicles, we learn that "...the families of the scribes that dwelt at Jabez.. ARE the kenites that came of Ilemath, the father of the house of RECHAB." 13. This is a very revealing verse, for Jeremiah the prophet has practically an entire chapter wherein God actually commends these "Kenites. ..of the house of Reehab" for their faithfulness.

If the Kenite/Rechabites are actually of the so-called Serpent Seed- ie. the descendants of the Devil, doesn't it seem rather peculiar that Jeremiah would actually bring them into "the house of the Lord?"

 To be more specific, the law of God specifically forbade any people of mixed heritage entering into the house of the Lord. Deuteronomy says A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord...". 15. Strongs Concordance says the word 'bastard' refers to the offspring of a mixed marriage or one ...born of a Jewish father and a heathen mother." 16. It's seemingly strange that these Kenite/Rechabites the Identity teachers says are the misbegotten offspring of Eve and Satan were actually invited into the house of the Lord by the Lord himself'

 During this most instructive of interactions recounted by Jeremiah, the Rechabite/Kenite leader refuses the wine he is offered saying "Our father commanded us saying Ye shall drink no wine, neither ye, nor your sons for ever; Neither shall ye build houses, nor sow seed, nor plant vineyard, nor have any: but all your days ye shall dwell in tents; that ye may live many days in the land where ye be strangers." 17.

 God then commends these people for their faithfulness, even as he rebukes the Jews for their faithlessness "because the sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have performed the commandment of their father, which he commanded them; but this people (the Jews) have not hearkened unto me. ..Behold I will bring upon Judah and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have pronounced against them..." 18 The Lord then proceeds to bless the Rechabite branch of the Kenites for their faithfulness.

 In these passages, we see that this tribe found favor with the Israelites as well as The Lord--and they apparently dwelled in the same land with the people of God. Also note how they are pledged to forever "dwell in tents. ..in the land where ye be strangers." 19. How very odd then that the Identity teachers say these same people quietly slipped in, secretly stole the identity of the tribe of Judah, and to this very day, live in their houses. Not only that, they did all of this without a single verse in the Bible telling us that such a thing actually happened!

A third theory has the descendants of Esau as secretively becoming known as Jews or Judacans during the inter-testamental period that was historically characterized as the Post-Seleucid/Ptolemaic period. This era (about 100 BC) is near the time of the Maccabbees, Antiochus Epiphanes, and John Hyrcanus--who ruled in Judaca a generation before Herod. Herod was, of course, the evil king who "...sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem." 20

 Josephus the historian relates the military exploits of "Hyrcanus..(who) took also Dora and Mirissa, cities of Idumaca, and subdued all the Idumacans; and permitted them to stay in that country, if they would circumcise their genitals, and make use of the laws of the Jews; and they were so desirous of living in the country of their forefathers, that they submitted..." 21

 One of the English translators of the works of Josephus, William Whiston, notes that "This, in the opinion of Josephus, made them proselytes of justice, or entire Jews.." 22. Whiston further cites Ammonius (by way of respected Christian writer Dean Prideaux), whose account says "The Jews are such by nature, and from the beginning, whilst the Idumaeans were not Jews from the beginning, but Phoenicians and Syrians; but being afterwards subdued by the Jews and compelled to be circumcised, and to unite into one nation, and be subject to the same laws, they were called Jews." 23.

 It is well established that King Herod was half Jewish/Idumacan, so there is a historical precedent for the Idumacans, who were also known as Edomites, to have become powerful and prominent in Judaca during this period.

 The mixture of the Jewish and idurnacan people actually presents the most credible of the various replacement theories; however, there are many historical discrepancies in the very same sources used to assert the theory--particularly the historian Josephus.

 For example, long after the period when the Idumaeans had apparently become known as Jews, there are still numerous references to them as a distinct people--i.e. Idumaeans.

 In his voluminous Antiquities of the Jews (written shortly after the time of Jesus) Josephus the Jew refers to "Pentecost, which is a festival of OURS...(when) a great many 10 thousands of men got together.. .a great number there was of Galileans, & Idumaens, and many men from Jericho, and others who had passed over Jordan. "24. This statement came well after earlier references saying the Idumaens had been assimilated, yet he mentions them as a distinctive group--to say nothing of the Israelites who "passed over Jordan" that were there in Jerusalem for Pentecost.

 A favorite text of the Idumacan theorists is the exchange in John chapter 8 where Jesus tells the Jewish leaders that they are of their father the Devil. In verse 33 they tell Jesus "We be of Abrahams seed, & were never in bondage to any man." 25. Many Identity teachers say this proves these people couldn't be the historical Judacans because the Judaeans were in bondage in Egypt with their brethren, the other 11 tribes of Israel.

 To clarify the matter, if all parties present knew these Pharisaic, Sadducean, and scribal Jewish leaders were actually Idumacans, they would have known that the Idumacans were not present during the captivity in Egypt, even though the Idumacans were also descended from Abraham,

 The inconsistency with this explanation should be apparent. In virtually every instance, Identity writers say the Jews are consummate liars whose word should never be trusted or believed, yet here we are told they're telling the truth because the lie they told Jesus supports their view! Furthermore, the scripture records that Jesus pointedly said they were liars, so the context clearly shows that the statement regarding their heritage was indeed a falsehood.

 An additional point is found in the same exchange between the Scribes and the Pharisees and Jesus. In John 8:17 Christ says "It is also written in YOUR law, that the testimony of two men is true." 26. The law was given to the Israelites immediately after the captivity in Egypt, so how could it be 'their law' if they weren't in "bondage to any man" in Egypt? A close reading of this text in John chapter 8 actually contradicts Identity assertions here in several ways.

 First, CI proponents say "...the Jews...are not apparently classed as men (Adamites) but are evil spirits in human form which cannot be drawn to Jesus." 27. Unfortunately for that view, the scripture reads "Then said Jesus to THOSE JEWS WHICH BELIEVED ON HIM, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." 28. It should be apparent to anyone that understands plain English that Jesus said these JEWS were saved 'if' they continued in his word.

 Second, it was the statement that the truth shall make you free that brought the response in the VERY NEXT VERSE that they've never been in bondage. The context shows they were saying they didn't need to be made free, for they believed that as the children of Abraham they were already free as the chosen people of God.

 Third, Jesus said "I know that ye are Abraham's seed" 29. even as he said "…Ye are of your father the Devil." 30. It should be readily apparent that they can t be both physically, so he was saying by their rejection of him, they were demonstrating they are not the children of the promise or true servants of the Living God, for they did not "do the works of Abraham." 31.

 Christian Identity teachers make a rather large fuss over the fact that the letter J does not occur in the Greek. They say that in the underlying manuscripts, the Greek word is loudais, so they say the only possible translation is actually Judacan instead of Jew. They accurately point out that the word Jew actually came into usage in the 17th century--largely at the time of the King James Bible.

 This is 'hair-splitting' of the worst kind, because it doesn't actually affect the issue of who is who. Transliteration problems are common, particularly in Middle Eastern language families. Isaiah is also spelled Esalas in the Bible. The prophet Jeremiah's name is rendered as Jeremy twice in the New Testament. Even the Arabic book the Quran is also spelled the Koran. Muslim is Moslem, Elias is Eluah, etc. When one reads a newspaper and sees a story about Col. Moammar Khudafi, the reader knows he's talking about the dictator of Libya regardless of how he spells it. I've seen the latter spelled Quadaffi, Khadafi, Kudafti, etc--so too Judah, Ioudah, loudais, loudean, Judaizer, Jewish, Jew, etc.

 Using this obscuring of the language, Identity teachers routinely claim that Jesus was not a Jew. once again, they follow this line because they count the Jews as not of the tribe of Judah--but actually as Kliazars, Idumacans, Kenites, etc. Of course, this strikes at the very heart of the issue of scriptural integrity, for it seems to fault the translators who wrote that Jesus is "the Lion of the Tribe of Juda, the root of David." 32. and "The scepter shall riot depart from Judah & unto him shall the gathering of the people be." 33.

 Note how my first scriptural citation from the last book of Revelation concerning the "Lion of the tribe of Juda" spells Juda without the letter H while the 2nd citation from the first book of Genesis uses the letter H. Does this mean we're talking about two different tribes--Juda and Judah? Of course not.

Incidentally, in this very chapter of Genesis, we also see the prophetic passage 'Judab, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise." 34, Since Christian identity advocates claim to be Israelites, i.e. the true brethren of Judah, is there any evidence that they praise him? Hardly!

 The exact opposite is true. I have examples of Identity writers quoting Mohammed saying "It is incomprehensible to me why one has not long ago expelled these death breathing beasts..." 35. Or an Identity retrieved citation from French philosopher Voltaire, who said "The Jews are nothing but an ignorant and barbaric people..." 36. Another favorite is Martin Luther's infamous characterization of the Jews as "a bloodthirsty and vindictive people who cherish the idea of murdering and strangling the heathen." 37, All these quotes, and many more, are brought forth in books written by Judab's so called British-Israelite "brethren."

Next, we'll closely examine the claim that the white Anglo-Saxon people actually are the lost tribes' of Israel.

White America Is Israel?

Chapter Eight

Christian Identity pastors, teachers, and writers universally state that the white European people arc the descendants of the Northern tribes of Israel. This identification actually puts the Identity scenario at odds with most systems of genealogical research--as we shall see.

 Most authorities link the various Europeans and Caucasians with Japheth, one of the three sons of Noah, even as the Israelites, Judacans, and the Arab peoples are seen as descended from Shem--in short they are Semitic, while the Europeans are Japhetic.

 Let's start with some basic definitions from dictionaries. The respected Ungers guide to the Bible lists "Shem (name, renown) A son of Noah and a perpetuator of the messianic line. The Jewish people are 'Shemites' or Semites." 1. Ungers also lists "Japheth (let him enlarge) Noah's 2nd son and the progenitor of the peoples that spread to the Northern and Western regions of the Earth after the flood--Medians, Greeks, Romans, Gaul, Germans, Russians, etc." 2.

Websters New International Dictionary defines japhetic as "Used vaguely as an ethnological epithet for the Caucasians of Europe and some adjunct parts of Asia." 3.

 The same dictionary defines Semitic as "A member of any of a group of peoples of Southwestern Asia speaking Semitic languages and chiefly represented flow by the Jews and Arabs but in ancient times also by the Babylonians, Assyrians, Aramaeans, Canaanites, and Phoenicians." 4.

 Because many Identity theorists have attempted to separate the "Jews" from the actual tribe of Judah, they have identified the modern people called Jews as Japhetic (descendants of Japheth) rather than Semitic (descendants of Shem), even though in the scriptures the Judacanis, or Jews, are seen as being from Shem's line.

 Apparently, at least some Identity figures feel they need to link the Israelites with the Semites (rather than the descendants of Japheth) in order to separate the Northern Israelite tribes from those called Jews--whom they've labeled as Japhetic. In other words, the birth lines are reversed. This has saddled the system with some bizarre inconsistencies.

 One writer has stated that the "White, Anglo-Saxon, Celtic, Germanic, Scandinavians (are) descended From Shem." Later in the same work, he asserts that the Jews are actually "the greatest anti-Semites of all time, since they constantly harass the true descendants of Abraham, the Arabs, whose land they have stolen" 5.

 Under the Identity scenario, this would mean that the tall blue-eyed blonde Nordic groups are the actual brethren of the Arabs! Anyone with eyes can see the Arabs have distinctly different physical features than the Northern Europeans. Conversely, these same Arabic descendants of Shem are widely known to hold a distinct physical resemblance to the Jews--even though the Identity proponents emphatically state the Jews are NOT Semitic!

 As in the case of Christian Identity writers proposing a variety of theories to show the Jews are not Israelites, they also have several variations in the attempt to connect the Nost bern dispersed tribes of Israel with the Caucasians of Europe.

 An Identity writer name Raymond Capt has allegedly traced the lost tribes' that were carried away in the Assyrian captivity in about 723 BC to a group of tribes that are mentioned in the historical accounts of that period. Capt says that after the Assyrians carried away the Israelites in the 7th century, a large number of the Israelites escaped and "...those that had settled in Sacasene moved North through the Dariel Pass into the steppe regions of South Russia. There they became known by the Greek name, Scythians." 6.

 Virtually every anthropological expert in this field says the Scythians be-came the Soviets, although a few say they settled in the Trans-Caucasian region to merge with the Turks, Armenians, Georgians, and other mountain peoples in the region. For example, the people of Chechnya would be in this group. In no case are the Israelites connected to the Eastern European Slavic Russians except in the mind of an Identity believer who is simply ignoring the evidence.

 The central thesis of the entire Christian Identity system rests on the false teaching that white America is the promised land of the 'lost' Israelites. In order to connect America to the Israelite promised land, CI writers are forced to connect the term Zion with America--even though there is not even a hint that this is so.

 In Heirs Of The Promise, referring to the alleged 'British' Israelites, author Sheldon Emry writes that "God turned Israel from antichrists in Europe, and God brought them to Zion." 7. He then proceeds to quote Jeremiah 3 where God's promise to backsliding Israel is "...I will bring you to Zion." 8. Referring to that Zion that God will lead his people to, Emry than concludes that

"Amcrica is that new land, (Zion) New Israel." 9.

 There is of course, no such thing as 'New Israel' in the Bible. Furthermore, scripture specifically identifies Zion as the CITYOFDAVID in 'Old' Israel-not some modern equivalent in the USA. In the historical book of TI Samuel, the account states that "David took the strong hold of Zion: The same k the city of David." ~ In another historical book of the Bible concerning the burial of Ahaziah the king of Judah, we see "his servants carried him in a chariot to JERUSALEM' and buried him in his sepulcher with his fathers in the city of David. " ii When a later king named Amaziah died, "...he was buried at JERUSALEM with his fathers in the city of David." 12.

 If Zion is the City of David and it's repeatedly identified with Jerusalem in the scriptures, how can Zion then he in 'New Israel' in America when there is not one verse indicating such a place even exists?

 A related problem that CI proponents face are the multitudes of scriptural accounts that indicate the Israelites would be scattered among the nations (plural)--as opposed to being foreordained to settle in the two nations of Britain and the United States. In the book of the prophet Amos, God says "For lo, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among the nations...13. Centuries earlier, Moses prophesied to the children of Israel that "...the Lord shall scatter you among the nations..." 14.

 These prophecies run throughout the Old Testament and there is no hint that the Israelites would be confined to specific white Western nations. The Psalmist Writes of how Yahweh "...lifted up his hand against them.. to scatter them in the lands." is. Back to the major prophets, through Ezekiel God promises that He will "...leave a remnant, that ye may have some that shall escape the sword among the nations, when ye shall be scattered through the countries." 16.

 Hosea says "...they shall be wanderers among the nations," 17. even as Joel connects "...the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem" with "...my heritage Israc4 whom they have scattered among the nations..." 18. Isaiah leaves no doubt that this dispersion is to be worldwide for he writes that the Lord "...shall assemble the outcasts of Israe4 and gather together the dispersed of Judah from THE FOUR CORNERS of the earth." 19.

 The conclusion is inescapable. There are Jews (Israelites) scattered among all nations even as the scriptures predicted. There are Jews in Argentina. There are Jews in Poland and the Czech republic. They're in Hungary, Rumania, Ethiopia, Russia, and Germany. They're even in Mexico. Of course there are Israelites in America and England, for they're all over the world-just as the scriptures have repeatedly stated.

 Because the Christian Identity view emphatically states that the Israelites were never returned to the Southern kingdom of Judah or Jerusalem after their dispersion in about 723 BC, any prophetic or historical book of the Bible written AFTER that time that places the Israelites in the promised land clearly contradicts the CI scenario. First, let's look at the actual event when "Shalmaneser king of Assyria...did carry away Israel unto Assyria, and put them in Halah and in Itabor..." 20.

 A few years later, scripture indicates that a remnant of the Israelites that were carried away had escaped and made their way back into the Northern kingdom of Israel. At that time, the good king of Judah, King Hezekiah sent to all Israel and Judah, and wrote letters also to Ephraim and Manasseh, that they should come to the house of the Lord at Jerusalem to keep the passover unto the Lord God of Israel." 21.

The fact that he "sent to all Israel" an invitation to come to the great passover is a strong indicator that there were Israelites that were free to come--i.e. at least a remnant had apparently escaped the king of Assyria.

 The Bible goes on to elaborate that the invitation went "throughout all Israel, from Beer-Sheba even to Dan..." 22. Once again, it would seem that there must have been Israelites in the land if that's where the proclamation was sent. Indeed, the scriptures provide us with the actual invitation. It reads "Ye CHILDREN OF ISRAEL, turn again unto the Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, and he will return to the remnant of you, that are escaped out of the hand of tile kings of Assyria." 23.

 This powerful verse in II Chronicles, directly states that a remnant of Israelites "escaped out of the hand of the kings of Assyria." This is point blank evidence, from the Bible itself, that the Israelites did not migrate to England and Neandinavia to become the British-Israelites.

 Furthermore, the scripture even informs us that the invitation was heeded by men from the 10 tribes of Israe4 "....of Ephraim, and Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun..." 24. in addition to the Levites, Benjamites, and the Judacans that were already in Jerusalem. It's very important to note that Ephraim and Manasseh are the two Northern tribes that are supposed to be England and America; yet here is at least a remnant from each tribe in Jerusalem years AFTER the carrying away by the king of Assyria.

 The call to Israel to return to the Lord by the godly King Itezekiah apparently brought a great repentance, for the Bible informs us that "...all israel that were present went out to the cities of Judah, and brake the images in pieces, and cut down the groves, and threw down the high places and the altars out of all Judab and Benjamin, IN EPHRAIM ALSO AND MANASSEH, until they had utterly destroyed them all. Then all the children of Israel returned, every man to his possession, INTO THEIR OWN CITIES." 25.

 Here is overwhelming evidence that Ephraim and Manasseh, the two tribes that should at this time be settled in En land, actually went back "into their own cities" to destroy the false gods and idols that had led them astray. With this much SCRII'TURE to contradict the Christian Identity message, it's not surprising that Kingdom Identity Ministries of Harrison Arkansas includes the so-called "Lost Chapter of Acts of the Apostles" as well as the apocryphal "Book Of Enoch" to teach their hapless students this false doctrine. 26.

 Over 200 years after Hezekiah's call to repentance, we find the Jews in captivity in Babylon about to be regathered to Jerusalem to rebuild their temple. The book of Ezra shows us that "...the children of Israel were in the cities (and) the people gathered themselves together as one man to Jerusalem." 27. Throughout this book, we find the term "Jews" and "Israel" to be interchangeable. "And the elders of the Jews builded...And the children of Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the rest of the children of the captivity, kept the dedication of this house of God with joy.... 28.

 Even though Ezra the priest was from the captivity of the Jews in Babylon, these Jews are repeatedly referred to as "...the children of Israel, which were come again out of captivity..." 29. In the next chapter₁ ~ the Persian king makes "...a decree, that all they of the people of Israel...which are minded of their own freewill" may now move to Jerusalem. 30. This is in 457 BC, hundreds of years AUTER white Israelis supposed to be in Britain and Europe--yet here they are in the Middle East in the Babylonian/Persian captivity being released to go to Jerusalem.

 After the Jews had gone to Jerusalem, Ezra records that "Also the children of those that had been carried away, which were come out of the captivity, offered burnt offerings...for all Israel." 31.

 About 500 years after Ezra led the Jews/Israelites back into Jerusalem, in the time of Jesus we still find Israelites in the land. At this point, it's over 700 years since the Israelites supposedly left for England and Europe--yet the Bible says they were still in Jerusalem.

 In other words, not only do Identity proponents have difficulty placing Israelites in Europe during the 7th century BC, they also have a rather large number of embarrassing references in the Bible which seem to place them in Jerusalem--precisely where one might expect to find Israelites.

 In the book of John, Jesus encounters "Nathanael of Cana in Galilee." 32. who he refers to as "...an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!" 33. Even though this is centuries after the 'lost-tribes' should have been in Europe, apparently there was at least one Israelite in the land!

 In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus Christ sends out his disciples on the now well known evangelistic mission. He specifically charges them that they are NOT to go "...into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans...But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." 34.

 It is well established that neither Christ, nor John the Baptist, nor any of their disciples left the very small nation of Israel during their earthly ministry. Who then did they preach to if Jesus told the disciples to avoid the Samaritans and the Gentiles? Obviously, the Israelites! Even though the so-called lost tribes would have had over 700 years to get to Britain by this point in history, evidently they were still close enough for the disciples to reach.

 In the Gospel of Luke, Zaehanas the priest prophesied "Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for HE HATH VISITED and redeemed His people..." 35, Zaeharias, you'll remember, was the father of John the BaptisL Furthermore, the angel that spoke to Zacharias concerning John said "And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God." 36. The angel also connected John to the prophecy about Elijah in Malachi where he would "...turn the hearts of the fathers to the children...to make ready a people prepared for the Lord." 37. The "fathers" spoken of here can only be the Israelites.

 Zacharias left no doubt when he blessed "the Lord God of Israel (who) hath visited and redeemed His people" that "His people" were there at that time--waiting for the promise of the fathers, for he also said "...that WE should be saved...." 38. Indeed, in this extensive prophecy he refers to "..the mercy promised to OUR fathers..." as well as "the oath which he sware to OUR father Abraham, That he would grant unto US...." 39, Clearly, there were Israelites in Jerusalem at the time of Jesus and John the Baptist.

 Actually, there are references to Israelites being present in Judaca all over the New Testament--centuries after they were supposedly "lost." In the book of Acts, we see the incredible account of Pentecost and the "rushing mighty wind" where the disciples spoke in tongues. In this chapter, we see the term Jew is virtually interchangeable with the term Israel.

 The account says at this time "there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven." 40. The text even provides a partial list of these nations (Parthians, Medes, Elamites, etc). 41.

 In the midst of this powerful spiritual outpouring, Peter stood up and ",..said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem..." 42. A scant eight verses later, in the same speech, he re-affirms that he is addressing "Ye men of Israel...." 4~, Furthermore, after referencing literally DOZENS of Old Testament prophetic texts specifically addressed to ISRAEL, he concludes "Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ." 44.

 In this last statement, Peter clearly is addressing "all the house of Israel" when he states that "YE have crucified" Jesus; yet the Gospel of John says "...but the Jews...cried out, away with him, away with him, crucify him." 45.11 is evident that at least Peter considers the "house of Israel" to be synonymous with the Jews, for he says "Ye men of Israel...Jesus of Nazareth...YE have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain." 46.

 I might add that the eminent historian Josephus has another account that is ironically related to Pentecost as well--although this one is dated about 35 years after the feast in Jerusalem recorded in Acts Two. This one comes from his Antiuuities Of The Jews and he relates how at the festival of Pentecost there were "...a great many ten thousands of men...". 47, What is interesting is that there were "...Galileans, and Idumacans, and many men from Jericho, and others who had PASSED OVER THE RIVER JORDAN, and inhabited those parts.' 48.

 This is a priceless historical detail for it succinctly shows there were Israelites in Jerusalem shortly before the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD. Once again, notice how Josephus mentions the presence of those "who had passed over the river Jordan." 49 This can only be a reference to the 12 tribes of Israel! In short, the Israelites were in Jerusalem during Pentecost in 33 AD when Peter mentioned them, and they were in Jerusalem just before 70 AD when Josephus mentions them.

 Note also how there were "many men from Jericho" 50. at Pentecost as well. When the promised land was divided among the tribes, Jericho was specifically given as an inheritance to Ephraim and Manasseh. The book of Joshua says "...the lot of the children of Joseph fell from Jordan by Jericho, unto the water of Jericho on the east, to the wilderness that goeth up from Jericho throughout mount Beth-el." 51. The Bible documents that "...the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance." 52.

 This is also rather ironic, for the Identity scenario specifies that it is the two children of Joseph, Ephraim and Manasseb, that make up the primary components of the modern equivalent of British-Israel. Remember, the teaching is that Ephraim is England and Manasseh is America. So if Ephraim and Manasseh are in England at this point in history, who are these Israelites from Ephraim/Manasseh's land of Jericho that are in Jerusalem at the same time?

 About thirty years before this feast of Pentecost spoken of by Josephus, the Bible records the Apostle Paul making statements that show the term Israelite has become synonymous with the term Jew. When Paul goes to Jerusalem, he says "I am a man which am a Jew of Tarsus...." 53. Three verses later, he again says "I am verily a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia..." 54.

 Shortly thereafter, he writes to the Christians in Rome that "...I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin." 55. Please recognize that the tribe of Benjamin was distinct from the tribe of Judab. In II Corinthians Paul is challenging false Apostles that have been spreading "another Gospel" and, in the process, he again identifies himself as an Israelite, even though he stated twice in Acts that he is a Jew.

 "Are they Hebrews? so am I. Are they Israelites? so am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? so am 1." 56. In Phillipians, he does it a third time. Paul relates that he was "circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee." 57

 It should be obvious by now. According to the historical records just cited, Both Peter, Paul, and Josephus considered the term Israelite and Jew to be synonymous.

 Even though a remnant of the captured Israelites experienced a partial regathering into Israel in the escape from the Assyrian captivity, the prophets speak of a final gathering into their ancient homeland. Approximately 135 years after the captivity and dispersal of Israel, through Ezekiel God says "...I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land...and I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes ".58.

 Although CI teachers try to make this verse apply to a last days regathering of white Christian/Israelites in America, the passage specifies that their "own land" that he will gather them into is "...the land that I gave to your fathers." 59. When one reviews the passages in the Old Testament where the Lord divides the land among the Israelites, 60. the land "he gave to (their) fathers" did not reach beyond the Middle East--and most certainly did not include the other side of the world and the Americas.

In describing the final re-gathering of Israel into their land, Ezekiel provides a stunning prophecy that pointedly states that in the last days, the 10 tribes of Israel will ultimately be rejoined with the 2 tribes of Judah into one nation:

This prophecy immediately precedes the devastating war of Gog and Magog which very definitely occurs "...in the latter years" 62. and could most accurately be described as World War III. In other words, the Israelites and the Jews are now together in their own land, under one king--precisely as this prophecy specifies.

 That brings us up to the present. The Jews ARE the Israelites. They are back in their own land--and the two sticks of Ezekiel have become one. They have one leader, and they are surrounded by hostile nations that even now are plan-fling the attack that will inaugurate The Great Tribulation and the last days of Planet Earth.

When ancient Israel split into two houses, the house of Israel encompassing the ten tribes in the North, and the house of Judah, encompassing the remaining two tribes in the South, it was but one part of God's providential plan. The split between the two factions brought about a continuing rivalry that frequently resulted in shifting political alliances and military bloodshed.

 The reader will recall that the Northern tribes fell into idolatry and were accordingly punished first. Later, the Southern kingdom met the same fate. There are hints in the scriptures that this split, apostasy, and ultimate reunion may prefigure other events in the prophetic related to the last days before the return of Christ. Indeed, there were subtle hints concerning the breakup of the kingdom as far back as the book of Numbers.

 Just after the Israelites came out of Egypt, Moses sent 12 spies into the promised land to reconnoiter the area for potential opposition prior to the Israelites moving in. You'll recall TEN of the spies came back in fear of the inhabitants and said 'We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we." 1. However, TWO of the spies were unafraid and said "if the Lord delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey." 2.

 This would appear to anticipate the split based on a condition of faith by the two and disbelief in the ten. We also see a similar type or simile in the New Testament.

 In the Gospel of Matthew, we find the unusual episode where the mother of James and John asked Jesus 'to grant that these my TWO sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom." 3. This was quite the request for Jesus responds that such a thing "...is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my father." 4

 The interesting thing here is the next verse says "And when the TEN heard it, they were moved with indignation against the two brethren." s Once again, we see the TWO in a special relationship with God, and the TEN in a position of envy or disbelief.

 In the book of Revelation, we find the well known passage of the 144,000 "servants of our God" that are to be sealed by the angel ascending from the east. 6. In this mysterious episode, we see the 12 tribes of Israel are actually intact--although Dan has been omitted and Joseph, the father of Ephraim and Afanasseh, has been added to the count. This group is later spoken of as male virgins, but the key point here is the fact that the scripture specifically describes each group as members of a specific tribe of Israel. In short, the Bible incontrovertibly says that at least 144,000 Israelites, including 12,000 Jews (descendents of Judah), are to be "redeemed from the earth." 7.

 The text does hint that there may be more ethnic Jews scheduled for salvation, in that Revelation refers to these 144,000 as "first fruits," but the only point I wish to make here is that apparently God considers it important to know which person came from which tribe in that he has chosen to record it in the Bible. Therefore, this would seem to underline the importance of a correct identification of who Israel actually is.

Revelation contains another text that seems to indicate that the issue is indeed very important. In Revelation chapter two, we find the second of the seven churches that are addressed by Jesus Christ himself. To the church at Smyrna, Christ says

This passage has been seized upon as yet another proof that the Jews are not the Jews,' nor are they of Israel. While this passage could refer to ancient non-Israelite peoples that have mingled with the Jews (such as the Edomite/ldumaeans), in the light of all the evidence I have submitted in previous chapters, I would like to suggest another interpretation.

It is clear that the term Jew became synonymous with the term Israelite during the intervening centuries after the Assyrian captivity. In this work I've offered proof-texts from Old Testament writers such as Moses, Ezra. Isaiah. Ezekiel. Zechariah. Hosea. Joel. and Amos. I've covered the historical writings of Josephus whose work is primarily related to the 400 years between the close of the Old Testament and the New Testament.

In the New Testament, I've cited from Matthew, Mark. Luke, John. Peter. Paul. and Jesus himself. I believe each contributes statements that show the leadership of Israel shifted to the Southern kingdom of Judah where the people became known as Jews by virtue of the fact that Jerusalem of Judah was the center of the national life of the children of Israel. In short, the evidence is overwhelming that the term Jew came to represent all of Israel.

With this in mind, could not this verse in Revelation about "...them which say they are Jews and are not" apply to the Identity proponents themselves?

Even though Christian Identity is called by many different names such as Kingdom Identity, Israel Identity, Christian Identity, etc, if I have proven that the Jews ARE Israel, then Identity advocates, in effect, are declaring themselves to be Jews with this theology. This point of view should be given careful consideration.

After the Northern 10 tribes of Israel were carried away into captivity by the Assyrians, the Assyrian empire disintegrated. During this decline, the NeoBabylonian empire under Nebuchadnezzar rose to power, and captured the remaining 2 tribes of Benjamin and Judab. At this time, the various captives of the tribes of Israel were scattered among all the nations--including Babylon, Egypt, Persia, and yes--Europe.

Some joined the Judacan captives in Babylon, some moved back to Jerusalem, some wandered into trans-Caucasia, and some were scattered around the world among ALL nations--precisely as it was prophesied by God. Even if there were a finite number of Israelites that melded into the proto-Caucasian peoples in the Southern steppe regions of Trans-Caucasia, there is outstanding scriptural evidence that at the very least a remnant of each tribe escaped the Assyrian captivity and made their way back to their national homeland.

I believe the Identity movement is far more significant than most believe at this time. The doctrine strikes at the very heart of the central message of the New Testament. The Gospel of Jesus Christ emphatically teaches that salvation is NOT found in one's national heritage, political affiliation, or gender.

It is the direct result of a personal relationship with the spiritual being the scriptures identify as Yahweh, or the Lord of hosts.

That relationship is predicated upon being born again in the spirit through his son Yashua Ha' Moschiach--better known as Jesus Christ. This salvation makes alt recipients of it "a new creature in Christ". 9, It makes no difference whether this new person in Christ was a Jew or a Gentile "For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision (i.e. the Law) availeth any thing, nor un-circumcision" for he now becomes known as "...the Israel of God." 10.

This "new man," this "Israel of God" now exists in a place "Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all." it. This clearly refers to what could be termed 'Spiritual Israel' for the Apostle Paul wrote that "...they are not all Israel, which are of Israel: Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children.. but the children of the promise are counted for the seed." 12.

Over the course of several letters in the New Testament, Paul articulates how the physical Israelites are not saved under the new covenant by virtue of their nationality. To the Romans, Paul wrote "...they which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God..." 13. This is foundational New Testament theology--the doctrine that individuals are NOT saved because they belong to one of the tribes of Israel; but they are saved "...if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead..." 14.

The bottom line is that physical Gentiles have become spiritual Israelites through their relationship with Christ, even as the Identity proponents see themselves as Gentiles that have realized they are actually physical Israelites. Please bear in mind that most physical Israelites are still trusting in the Old Covenant, i.e. the law for their salvation.

There is no reason that any Identity proponent that trusts in Christ would not experience salvation--if he (or she) is indeed trusting IN CHRIST. Just be-cause someone is in error is not enough to merit a loss or lack of salvation; however, Paul says that "...a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the FAITH of Jesus Christ...for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified." 15. To put it another way, "...by grace are ye saved through faith. ..not of works, lest any man should boast." 16.

Because God has had a covenant relationship with the "...Israelites to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law," 17. God has promised "though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved..." 18. It is this series of promises to the physical children of Israel that Identity proponents continually cite, for there they find scripture that seems to say that God will miraculously move among them by virtue of the fact that they are physical Israelites--albeit of the alleged 'Anglo' variety.

This is sad, for their birthright is actually found in the New Covenant relation-ship in spiritual communion with Christ--not because they are "British-Israelites," but simply because they are PEOPLE and "...God so loved the world that lie gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." 19.

To the Identity believer, I would echo Pauls words: Instead of turning to "...the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage...Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ bath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." 20

The final argument I would like to offer against the idea of the white Gentiles actually being the lost tribes of Israel is based on Romans chapter Eleven. The Apostle Paul is writing about how the Israelites rejection of the Gospel opened the door for the Gentiles to be "grafted" in to the "tree" of the family of God. Writing to the Gentiles, Paul refers to Israel as the "natural branches (that were) broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree...For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee." 21

This entire chapter authoritatively states that Israel is the "natural branch" and the Gentiles are the "wild branch" of this allegorical Olive tree. Now, if the "natural" Olive Branch was broken off to graft in the Gentiles, how can those same white Gentiles (the 'wild branch') BE the "natural" branch - i.e, Israel? Think about it. The entire analogy becomes meaningless in the Identity scenario. The whole point of the text is the rejection of the Gospel by Israel made it possible for the Gentiles to be saved--exactly as God foreordained. In the parable of the king who arranged a wedding for his son, we see the king

Because Christ sent his disciples to the "lost sheep of the house of Israel" in Matthew chapter ten, they must be the ones that were bidden to the wedding, but refused to come, because "they were not worthy." These are the natural Olive branches that were broken off, and the wild branches are the Gentiles-those the servants of the king "gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good" that were "graffed in" to the great Olive tree of the Lord.
